04.20.24 EChurch@Wartburg. Laura Barringer: Pivoting from Toxic to Tov

Prayer by Augustine, 354 – 430 AD

Look upon us, O Lord,
and let all the darkness of our souls
vanish before the beams of thy brightness.
Fill us with holy love,
and open to us the treasures of thy wisdom.
All our desire is known unto thee,
therefore perfect what thou hast begun,
and what thy Spirit has awakened us to ask in prayer.
We seek thy face,
turn thy face unto us and show us thy glory.
Then shall our longing be satisfied,
and our peace shall be perfect.
Amen

Prayer of Patrick-389-461

Our God, God of all men
God of heaven and earth, seas and rivers,
God of sun and moon, of all the stars,
God of high mountain and lowly valley,
God over heaven, and in heaven, and under heaven.
He has a dwelling in heaven and earth and sea
and in all things that are in them.
He inspires all things, he quickens all things.
He is over all things, he supports all things.
He makes the light of the sun to shine,
He surrounds the moon and the stars,
He has made wells in the arid earth,
Placed dry islands in the sea.
He has a Son co-eternal with himself…
And the Holy Spirit breathes in them;
Not separate are the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Amen

Prayer to God the Father — St Ambrose of Milan (337–397 AD)

O Lord, who has mercy upon all, take away from me my sins,
and mercifully kindle in me the fire of Your Holy Spirit.
Take away from me the heart of stone,
and give me a heart of flesh,
a heart to love and adore You,
a heart to delight in You,
to follow and to enjoy You,
for Christ’s sake.
Amen

Benediction

Whatever wilderness the Spirit has brought you to:
walk in boldness, as a beloved child of God
walk in peace, under the shelter of the Most High
walk in faith, knowing Christ walks with you.
Amen.

  1. Dee, thank you for echurch. How wonderful to have a safe sabbath place to land during this excruciating season.

Friends, do listen to the podcast: Pivoting from Toxic to Tov. Laura Barringer calls the fragmented, despairing, malformed church to surrender. Hard work–ultimately God’s work. Am I willing? Are we ready yet??

I echo that sentiment and am thankful to you as well, Dee.

I am following up on the Dallas Willard series that you posted a few weeks ago. Getting a lot out of it. And even Laura Barringer mentioned him. So great to find these voices.
