Here is Our Order of Worship

O God, whose holiness is not limited to grand cathedrals or saintly persons, spectacular mountains or mountain-moving leaders; O God, whose holiness is often discovered in simple everyday places and simple everyday folks, plant Your holiness in this place, in us now. Grow us this hour, that we might flower, right where we are, with the beauty of Your holiness. Through Jesus we pray. Amen. (link)

The Lord's Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13 KJV

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.

Amen

Scripture Reading:  Luke 1:1-4 (NASB Bible Gateway)

Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile an account of the things accomplished among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses andservants of the word,  it seemed fitting for me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in consecutive order, most excellent Theophilus;  so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught.

Benediction

The Lord bless you, and keep you;

The Lord make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;

The Lord lift up His countenance on you,

And give you peace.

Numbers 6:24-26 NASB

Wade, your explanation about Luke’s association with Theophilus was wonderful and makes perfect sense. It also gives a more in depth understanding and appreciation for the gospel written by Luke. He would have recorded events in a very precise and systematic way to appeal to a Jewish High Priest. As a result, Theophilus being knowledgeable with OT history, could see the OT being fulfilled with the arrival of Jesus. So often we read over names quickly without seeing how they add meaning to the message being transmitted.

You said that if the worship and teaching in a church do not strengthen your walk with Christ, you too would stay away. I wouldn’t be surprised if a mass exodus doesn’t happen in many churches today that promote entertainment as opposed to lifting Jesus up.

When you mentioned inviting a co-worker to church (during the Easter season), I had an immediate feeling of resistance to that suggestion. Again, the state of many churches today would not lend itself to the desired end of lifing up Jesus. But, without a moment’s hesitation, I’d invite anyone to visit the church in Enid. 🙂

Thank you Wade and Deb for making it possible for me to attend a church service that strengthens my faith through worship and the Word.

    Blessings to you,
    Mary Ann

    Mary Ann,

    Thanks for your kindness.

“When The Days Grow Dark, And All Else Fails?”

    hmmm…

    R U a person of Faith?

    What?

Is a Faith worth having, a faith worth investigating?

    huh?

(See your Bible for details; you will be glad you did!)

    Skreeeeeeeeeeeetch!

    (bump)

True Faith will always lead to a conviction that the things of God, – the things in which He talks about in His Word, are real, that we can trust them with our very lives, because they bring a Hope we can be proud of, that we can be assured of, that we can depend on, that will cling to us, ‘When All Else Fails’…

    Whew!

    (smiley face goes here)

…when all else fails, have you tried the Word Of God?

    hmmm…
