Church in the Forest

Here is our order of worship

Morning Prayer link

"Dear Lord, I give you my hands to do Your work;
I give You my feet to go Your way;
I give You my eyes to see as You see;
I give You my tongue to speak Your words;
I give You my mind that You may think in me;
I give You my spirit that You may pray in me.
Above all, I give You my heart that You may love in me
– love the Father and love all humankind.
I give You my whole self, Lord, that You may grow in me,
so that it is You who lives, works and prays in me. Amen."

A Prayer of Confession by Peter Marshall link

Forgive us, Lord . . . for the things we have done
that make us feel uncomfortable in Your presence.
All the front that we polish so carefully for men to see does not deceive You.
For you know every thought that has left its shadow on our memory.
You have marked every motive that curdled something sweet within us.

We acknowledge–with bitterness and true repentance
–that cross and selfish thoughts have entered our minds;
we acknowledge that we have permitted our minds
to wander through unclean and forbidden ways;
we have toyed with that which we knew was not for us;
we have desired that which we should not have.

We acknowledge that often we have deceived ourselves where our plain duty lay.
We confess before You that our ears are often deaf to the whisper of Thy call,
our eyes often blind to the signs of your guidance,
Make us willing to be changed,
even though it requires surgery of the soul and the therapy of discipline.
Make our hearts warm and soft,
that we may receive now the blessing of Your forgiveness,
the benediction of Your "Depart in peace . . and sin no more."
Amen

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:35 (NASB Bible Gateway)

Women received back their dead by resurrection; and others were tortured, not accepting their release, so that they might obtain a better resurrection;

A prayer from an early Church father Irenaeus (died 202 C.E.) link

Give growing maturity to beginners, O Father;
Give intelligence to the little ones;
Give aid to those who are running their course.
Give sorrow to the negligent;
Give fervor of spirit to the lukewarm.
Give to the mature a good end;
For the sake of Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.”

The Lord bless you, and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance on you,
And give you peace.
Numbers 6:24-26

    Beautiful songs, Deb. “Give Thanks” is one of my all-time favorites.

    Wade, great wisdom imparted about not getting too comfortable here on this earth. Thank you.

    Don’t laugh, but I was quite distracted during your sermon and had to keep rewinding to get the whole message. The object of my distraction? The beautiful stone work behind you and on the steps. 🙂 My husband was a stone/brick mason and my son does tile work for hotel fountains and pools. Guess that’s why I focused on the beauty they bring to the platform as I believe that was the first time I’d see that in a video here at e-church.

    Anyway, thank you all for e-church; it’s a blessing to me!

    Victorious,

    I always look forward to your comments on the EChurch posts. So glad you enjoyed the songs. We are so thankful for our TWW family!

    Wow. I don’t think I have ever cried this much from a sermon. Thank you Wade. I will now go back and listen to last week’s and try to convince my sister to do the same. She has changed either from the meds or the lesions on her brain, but I hope she will listen to this sermon. Thank you again Wade. God bless you.

    Scooter’s Mom,

    You are welcome. We continue to pray for you sister.

    Victorious, the background is for a Christmas musical the choir puts on in December. I thought it looked nice too!

    would you ever consider putting the audio of Wade’s message on itunes as a podcast? Right now I download it and convert the video to audio to play on my ipod (chronic insomnia, among other things, and it’s nice to have good stuff to listen to and be entertained without having to look or have a light on to wake the husband)

    mary

    I will check with the tech guy at Enid to see what he thinks. It is a great idea and I am in your same shoes at times.

    Mary,

    You can download the podcasts of the Sunday morning messages here.

    I am unsure which service of the four is downloaded to the podcast, so it may be just a tad different in the delivery than the one you watch at Wartburg Watch, but the content will be the same.

    I am trusting your insomia will be cured! 🙂
