EChurch@Wartburg – 3.25.12

Welcome to Our Gathering of EChurch@Wartburg

Enhanced Rainbow by Barb Ver Sluis

Here is our order of worship

We begin with a recitation and then a song from the ODES PROJECT.

"The Odes of Solomon", which some scholars have called “The First Christian Hymnal”, is in fact a worship anthology from one of the earliest Christian communities. The poems it contains were composed sometime before 125 AD., and may have been used as chants in a church or synagogue. The anonymous Odist’s vivid imagery and eloquent metaphors are timeless expressions of Christian devotion and worship; they also distill biblical truths that offer comfort, strength and guidance to the people of God." Please join us in prayer as we contemplate the words of our brothers and sisters from 2000 years ago.

Fernando Ortega is now setting these Odes to song.

O merciful God
Fill our hearts, we pray, with the graces of Your Holy Spirit;
With love, joy, peace patience, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness,humility and self-control.
Teach us to love those who hate us; to pray for those who despitefully use us;
That we may be the children of Your love, our Father,
Who makes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.
In adversity, grant us grace to be patient; in prosperity keep us humble;
May we guard the door of our lips; may we lightly esteem the pleasures of this world,
And thirst after heavenly things;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen"
A prayer of Anselm (1033-1109)

Scripture Reading:  Hebrews 10:19-20  (NASB Bible Gateway)

Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh,

Our Father who art in heaven;
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven;
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation;
But deliver us from evil;
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
Amen.

"The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace."  Amen

Thank you for spending your precious time worshipping the Lord.

    I moved your comment about John Piper under a more appropriate venue. This is EChurch for those who have found regular churches difficult. Piper is controversial and I would rather him be discussed elsewhere, good comment or not.

  2. Awesome video and sermon about the Temple veil.

    Often we hear “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” No so with the gift of the torn veil! Praise God! I have a greater appreciation today of the meaning of Hebrews 10:19-20.

    Thanks, Deb, Dee, and Pastor Wade!

  3. Victorious,

    I’m so grateful you enjoyed Wade’s message and the accompanying videos. We have so much to be thankful for as Christians!

  4. I also enjoyed hearing about the Odes Project.

    Thanks to all of you for a wonderful service:)

    And I never knew the veil was so large….very interesting.

  5. Once again, I cried thru the sermon because I can hear God talking to me. I have no words to express what this e-church has and is doing for me. Thank you God.

  6. Thank you, Dee, Deb, Pastor Wade and, most of all, thanks to God for such a wonderful idea as EChurch. I am one of those who had to leave the church in order to heal. I have not left God but have often felt very alone. Tears ran down my cheeks for most of the “service” because it was so wonderful to worship with a community and feel safe – no cringing, no feeling put down, disrespected, or not believed – just the love of Jesus and worship of Him shared in community.

  7. Dagnabbit, I can’t figure out how to play sound on my el cheapo tablet. I’ll have to watch at work on lunch hour. Oh well, I already love Fernando Ortega, so I’m excited to hear this new project.
    Blessings!

  8. Scooter’s Mom,

    I am overjoyed that you are hearing from God. God bless you, dear sister. We have more great messages from Wade on the way…

  9. Vicki,

    I love Fernando Ortega too! I first heard about him when Anne Graham Lotz invited him to perform at her Just Give Me Jesus events. I was going to include this song in the upcoming EChurch, but I found another that is more appropriate for Wade’s sermon.

    We will feature this song soon, but go ahead and enjoy it!

  10. Abigail,

    I was so touched by your comment. We are so grateful that God is using the internet to reach Christians like you who have been driven away from the organized church. WE ARE THE CHURCH, and I believe Almighty God is here in our midst.

    I will be praying for you as you heal spiritually. 🙂

  11. Thanks, Deb! His song “Con Que Pagaremos” moves me to grateful tears. Have you heard it? Can’t cut and paste from my tablet, maybe I can when I get to work 🙂
