Trinitarian Prayer of John Stott link
“Good morning heavenly Father, good morning Lord Jesus, good morning Holy Spirit.
Heavenly Father I worship you as the creator and sustainer of the universe.
Lord Jesus, I worship you, Saviour and Lord of the world.
Holy Spirit, I worship you, sanctifier of the people of God.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
Heavenly Father, I pray that I may live this day in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life:
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Holy, blessed and glorious Trinity, three persons in one God,
have mercy upon me. Amen.”
A Prayer of Ambrose (c 339-97) link
O Lord, who hast mercy upon all, take away from me my sins,
and mercifully kindle in me the fire of thy Holy Spirit.
Take away from me the heart of stone,
and give me a heart of flesh,
a heart to love and adore thee,
a heart to delight in thee,
to follow and to enjoy thee,
for Christ’s sake.
In Jesus name,
Amen
Scripture Reading: Luke 20:9-18 (NASB Bible Gateway)
Parable of the Vine-growers
And He began to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard and rented it out to vine-growers, and went on a journey for a long time. At the harvest time he sent a slave to the vine-growers, so that they would give him some of the produce of the vineyard; but the vine-growers beat him and sent him away empty-handed. And he proceeded to send another slave; and they beat him also and treated him shamefully and sent him away empty-handed. And he proceeded to send a third; and this one also they wounded and cast out. The owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will respect him.’ But when the vine-growers saw him, they reasoned with one another, saying, ‘This is the heir; let us kill him so that the inheritance will be ours.’ So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What, then, will the owner of the vineyard do to them? He will come and destroy these vine-growers and will give the vineyard to others.” When they heard it, they said, “May it never be!” But Jesus looked at them and said, “What then is this that is written:
‘The stone which the builders rejected,
This became the chief corner stone’?
Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces; but on whomever it falls, it will scatter him like dust.”
The Lord’s Prayer
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen.
Benediction link
Go, and know the Lord goes with you.
Let him lead you each day into the quiet place of your heart,
where he will speak to you.
Know that he blesses and watches over you
– that he listens to you in gentle understanding –
that he is with you always, wherever you are and however you may feel.
Amen.

I think that to say Jews are no longer God’s chosen people is inaccurate. The gospels quoting Jesus and also in the book of revelation shows a Jewish / Gentile difference even in the regeneration. Matt. 19:27-28 , Rev. 7:4-9. Jesus also noted Jerusalem as the city of the great king in matt 5:34-35. And Jesus was clear to the samaritan woman that Salvation is of the Jews. John 4:22. Romans explains the gentiles being admitted to Gods kingdom not as God doing away with His promise to His chosen people but as gentiles being grafted into that tree. And warns wild branches that are graffed in to not boast against the branches. Rom 11:15-18. “And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again. For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree? For i would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the gentiles be come in.” Rom 11:23-25. Jesus never does away with the Jewishness of His people or His own, even as He allows gentiles into God’s new covenant. In Revelation it is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah that is alone worthy to open the book, not a gentile saviour, or a non ethnic Saviour. I point this out because of the rise of anti semitism in this country and even though i believe Wade would never condone it, many would argue that God said He would destroy His people so they had no obligation to try to save Jews from the Romans or Hitler. This is a huge antisemetic viewpoint prevelant today and an excuse to persecute Jews. “There is neither Jew nor greek, bond nor free, male nor female: forye are all one in Christ Jesus. Gal 3:28” refers to how the Lord judges us and freely accepts us, it isnt saying jews are unloved of God now.

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me … to heal the brokenhearted … to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of Our God. Is. 61:1-2.
He bore my iniquities so that I might not be a grape thrown into the great wine press of the wrath of God. Rev.14:19.

The nation of Israel in our time is one of the last people groups to be reached with the gospel. There are at most several thousand Jewish believers in Yeshua currently residing in Israel. Under Israel’s Law of Return, Messianic Jews are not permitted to establish residency in Israel. The Israeli Sanhedrin has determined that Messianic Jews will not be permitted to marry in Israel. Muslims, Catholics and atheists can marry; Messianic Jews must leave the country if they wish to marry.
I think this is Satan’s last stand. I expect that there will be a great outpouring of the Spirit upon the Jewish people and they will experience a Great Awakening as has happened among other people groups.

Much agreement here sandy. There isn’t anything the Devil hates worse than Women and Jews. Woman because it was her ovum, sans human male sperm, that the Almighty used to bring himself into this world. And the Jews because they were the genetic vehicle God used to arrive (Matthew’s Genealogy) at the least damaged ovum from the fall.

Sandy and Dale,
You make excellent points. I believe Romans 11 teaches the Jews – as an ethnic group – will experience an awakening of faith in Christ before the end of this age. I do not believe that a restoration of the NATION of Israel, the OLD COVENANT sacrifices, and the TEMPLE worship of Old Israel is part of God’s purpose for the future.
But I do believe Jews will come to faith in Christ by the thousands before Christ returns to end this current age (Romans 11).

@ Wade Burleson:
Wow, thanks pastor Wade, no ones ever said that to me before! I personally am unsure about the nation aspect but have alot of people say that the books of Daniel and revelation and Jesus words indicate that shortly before Jesus’s return certain things like that will be happening. Kind of like the nation of Israel happenings being a referance point to what will occur when. Ha i am sure if i could speak christianese i could explain better but i havent a good understanding of those books yet. I had a pastor that said ” people ask me if i am ‘pre-tribulation’ rapture or ‘post-trib rapture’ and i say i am pan-trib rapture! When they ask what that is i say i love Jesus and He loves me so it will all pan out!” thanks for sharing your services online and p.s. i could use prayer to quit smoking.

Agreed. God never changes, so His people will always been His people. But the sacrificial system is no longer needed because the perfect Lamb has been sacrificed once for all. And “I time is coming, and has now come, when true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth.” Not on that mountain nor in Jerusalem, but wherever we are, because our bodies are now the temples of the Holy Spirit.
I would greatly appreciate prayer for my family. I’ve been slowly coming to the realisation that my husband is abusive. It probably sounds really stupid to say that, but he doesn’t really fit any of the loud, pushy, physically violent stereotypes. He does have these fits of rage, though, sometimes. Last week he shouted at my autistic son that all his behaviour issues are because he’s an evil child. I feel like I’m losing my mind trying to get things straight in my head. My kids love him but they’re scared of him too. He’s being quite nice at the moment and it makes me doubt everything I’ve seen before. Like how can someone who can be nice and playful and gentle also be this mocking, raging terrifying man? Can someone be a quiet, passive bully? It makes no sense to me. But please pray.

@ Liz:
I stopped and prayed for you this morning. I am so sorry for what you are going through. Abusive people can be charming and kind and also abusive. That is why they are so successful in appearing so *nice* to the outside world. This behavior pattern also keeps you off balance which makes it easier for him to manipulate you. It is meant to confuse you. It also keeps you present in the marriage. He needs your presence (and your son’s presence) in order to play his game.
Your husband Is an abuser. It is really that simple. You need to seek counseling for yourself and your son. You need to get centered and be under the care of an experienced counselor. That individual will guide you in how to approach your husband or if it is safe for you to remain in your home. Right now, the safety and emotional well being of both you and your son are paramount.
Please let us know if we can help you in any way. Again, I am so sorry.

Q. What do you mean by your statement above: “I do not believe that a restoration of the NATION of Israel, the OLD COVENANT sacrifices, and the TEMPLE worship of Old Israel is part of God’s purpose for the future.”

in a nutshell Wade is not a dispensationalist, but a preterist and he would even go further into what type of preterist he is. study the difference and when the different theology came into being preterist is more historical than the theology of dispensationalism you will find.
I would suggest that you listen to his studies of Daniel and Revelation and you would get a good handle on where he is coming from.
You do not have to agree with him but it is well worth the study at least from my view it is.

I’ve always understood it that the system of animal sacrifice is no longer needed because Jesus was the perfect Lamb, slain once and for all for the sins of the world. So there’s no longer any need to bring sheep or goats or whatever for specific sins, because it’s already covered. And therefore the temple isn’t necessary because it was the place where those sacrifices had to be carried out. That’s the significance of the temple curtain being torn in two at Jesus’ death – God is no longer confined to the holy of holies (not that he ever really was), but can be worshipped everywhere by everyone.
That’s a very simplistic explanation, and I’ve probably overlooked a lot. Another temple may well get built even though it’s not necessary for sacrifices. And whatever happens, Israel are still God’s chosen and beloved people. That will never change, because God never changes.

As I understand it, Wade is simply calling us to be the peacemakers that Jesus called us to be in the Sermon on the Mount, and to earnestly partner with Him now in His reign to see the never-ending increase of His government and His peace.
