Here is our Order of Worship

A Call to Worship link

God of Hope,
we come into your presence this morning
with confidence that you will meet us here.
Where there is sadness, bring joy;
Where there is tiredness, bring refreshment;
Where there is despair, bring a renewed sense of hope.
Let this place be a sanctuary,
a safe haven for us,
a home for holy words and songs and prayers
as we devote ourselves to you.
We pray this in Jesus’ name
Amen

A Prayer of Confession link

I confess to You, Lord, what I am: I am not the person I like others to think I am;
I am afraid to admit even to myself what lies in the depths of my soul.

But I do not want to hide my true self from You.
I believe that You know me as I am, yet You love me.
Help me not to shrink from self-knowledge; teach me to respect myself for your sake;
give me the courage to put my trust in Your guidance and power.

I come with open hands and a receptive mind and heart today,
letting go of my fears, my need for control & my sin.
I trust you to know best. To keep my life in the light and bring it to completion as you see fit.

I trust you to shape me, see me, steer me, stir me, sustain me and sanctify me
as I seek to be available to do your will and be your child.
I pray this in the name of my Perfect Providing Father,
my Forgiving Savior, my Loving Lord and my Sanctifying Spirit,

Amen.

Scripture Reading: Luke 18:1-8 (NASB Bible Gateway)

Now He [Jesus] was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart, saying, “In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man. There was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, ‘Give me legal protection from my opponent.’ For a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.’” And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge *said;  now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them?  I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?”

Benediction

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

  1. I have a prayer request. A woman jumped out of a moving vehicle in front of me this morning in heavy traffic. She was barefoot. The male driver jumped out and tried to chase her down on foot, but she ran across traffic in front of my car. She reached out and almost touched the front of my car, and I saw her face. She was terrified. He jumped in his vehicle, did a U-turn, and chased after her.

    I called the police, and by the end of the call they had someone following her. They said they will probably call back for more details, but they haven’t yet. I am just praying she is safe and she stays safe.

    Praying for her.

    I am so thankful you were there and called the police.

  3. We’ve been having a sometimes intense discussion about addictions and how to handle people in the church who have them in the thread about R.C. Sproul Jr.

    This comment was from that thread:

    “There’s so much pain in the world. I’ll be praying for you and your circle. Thank you for telling your story.
    May I suggest that we all pray for people who are in despair?”

    Let us join Friend in this very good prayer: for those in despair.

    “God Rest Ye Merry Gentle Folk?”

    hmmm…

    So many kind folks come to the Wartburg Watch blog hurting, searching, and unfortunately filled with unhealthy toxins.

    (sadface)

    Of a truth: Jesus came that you might find ‘rest’ in Him…

    (—> Take a lōōk: Please see your bible for details)

    “Come unto me all ye that are heavy laden, and I shall give you rest.” -Jesus

    Hi VELOUR,
    very grateful for this and will pray for the intentions of these people and also for those who suffer whose needs we may not know

    I am also asking for prayer for the well-being of our disabled and aged citizens who are helpless over circumstances and need for us to advocate for their care. May God give us wisdom and courage to stand for these people who are increasingly vulnerable.
