Wanda (Deb) Martin
She hails from North Carolina, which she fondly calls "God's Country".
Her American father, who was serving in the U S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, met her mother in a little cafe on the first night he was stationed in Norway. Her mother didn't know English, and her father couldn't speak Norwegian, but LOVE has a language all its own! After dating for two years, they married in Stavanger, Norway and moved to the United States when her dad's tour ended.
She was valedictorian of her high school class and was the first in her family to attend college. She earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University, where she double-majored in English and Economics. While pursuing a career as a bank trust officer, she enrolled in the Executive MBA program at UNC-Chapel Hill. After completing two semesters she married, quit her job, and continued to pursue her MBA which she earned when her first child was almost one. She has been a stay-at-home mom and is blessed to be married to her best friend. They will celebrate their silver wedding anniversary on May Day.
She has often referred to herself as a "professional volunteer" because she has spent countless hours volunteering at her daughters' school, leading a Moms in Touch prayer group, serving as a Girl Scout leader, leading ladies' Bible studies, etc. Now that she and her husband have an "empty nest", what will she do with all her time?
