EChurch@Wartburg: 08/9/2020: Abraham Wright: Why Don’t We Share the Good News?

Prayer by Thomas à Kempis link

Lord, what is my confidence which I have in this life?
Is it not you, O Lord, my God,
whose mercies are without number?
Where has it ever been well with me without you,
or where could it be ill with me when you were present?
I would rather be a pilgrim on earth,
than possess heaven without you.
Where you are, there is heaven;
and where you are not, there is death and hell.
There is no one who can help me in my needs,
but only you, my God;
you are my hope, you my confidence.
Although you allow temptations and adversities,
yet you order all these to my advantage.
In my trials you should be loved and praised no less
than if you filled me full of heavenly comfort.
Amen

Prayer from the Mozarabic Liturgy link

O Holy Spirit, Comforter,
with the Father and the Son
you live as one God.
Descend to our hearts this day,
that while you make intercession for us,
we may call on our Father with full confidence;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

You Lift Up Our Head: Mozarabic Prayer

O Lord,
even though many say
there is no help for us in our God,
you are our defender.
You lift up our heads.
Increase our hope
and surround us with your perpetual mercy;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Scripture: Romans 10:13-15 NIV link

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified,
and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”
For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—
the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,
or, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Benediction: Thomas à Kempis link

Remember:
Without the Way, there is no going,
Without the Truth, there is no knowing,
Without the Life, there is no living.”

  1. Fully confess I totally ignored the service based on the sermon title “Why don’t we share the good news?”

    When did you stop beating your wife questions and why doesn’t the church ever questions are off my radar screen.

    In this case I ignored it because where I have lived and live now the good news is shared by the church and individuals on a daily basis.

    Why don’t we ever see the good might be a better title!

    Seriously, the pandemic made us temporarily “dones” and once we can go back to church, it will be an encouraging and uplifting one, not a tear down the church one, or we will still worship at home.
