Here Is Our Order of Worship

A Prayer for Joy and Hope by Johann Arndt (1555-1621) link

Lord, give us hearts never to forget Thy love;
but to dwell therein whatever we do, whether we sleep or wake,
live or die, or rise again to the life that is to come.

For Thy love is eternal life and everlasting rest; f
or this is life eternal to know Thee and Thy infinite goodness.
O let its flame never be quenched in our hearts; let it grow and brighten,
till our whole souls are glowing and shining with its light and warmth.

Be Thou our Joy and Hope, our Strength and Life,
our Shield and Shepherd, our Portion for ever.
For happy are we if we continue in the love wherewith Thou has loved us;
holy are we when we love Thee steadfastly.

Therefore O Thou, Whose name and essence is Love,
enkindle our hearts, enlighten our understandings,
sanctify our wills, and fill all the thoughts of our hearts,
for Jesus Christ’s sake.
Amen.

Prayer for peace of mind link.

Lead me to your still streams O Lord
Where I can kneel in the waters of life
Lay down my anxious thoughts
And cast all my cares on You
Here I will wait a while and bathe in the life-giving waters

Bathe my mind in Your Spirit O God
Come fill my being with Your peace

Bathe my heart with Your love O God
Come still my being with Your peace

Bathe my spirit with Your freedom O God
Come saturate this life with Your peace.
Amen

Scripture Reading: Psalm 37:4 (NASB Bible Gateway)

Delight yourself in the Lord;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.

Prayers for those who have suffered abuse link.

Almighty God & Everlasting Lord,
You are the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort.
We pray this week for those who have been abused within our churches and the wider communities across our nation.

Have compassion upon all who have suffered the injustice, humiliation and pain of abuse
– sexual, physical, emotional, spiritual and all other forms of sinful conduct.

In the midst of their distressing circumstances, give them courage to speak.
May your perfect love drive out fear and anxiety.
In your mercy, create opportunities for these men, women and children to share their pain,
reveal their struggles and expose the hurtful actions of others.

Give grace, sensitivity and wisdom to all who will minister to the victims and survivors of abuse.
Strengthen those who have been abused with the certainty of your love for them.
In all things, we ask that your name be glorified and that we – your people –
do justice, love kindness and walk humbly before you.

We humbly plead these things in the name of our Saviour, Jesus Christ,
who died and rose and now sits at your right hand in glory.
Amen.

An ancient folk blessing link

May there always be
work for your hands to do.
May your purse always
carry a shilling or two.

May the sun always
play on your window pane.
May a rainbow chase after
each spot of rain.

May the hand of a friend
always be near you.
May God fill your heart with
gladness and cheer you.
Amen

  1. Praise: Thank you Pastor Wade Burleson for writing about The Village Church in Texas and Karen’s case of being excommunicated and shunned when she was the victim in a terrible situation. Karen was admitted to a major law school with scholarships and everything!

Thank you for writing about the authoritarianism that is the new threat to the church as well as why folks shouldn’t sign Membership Covenants. I have given many people the links to your articles.

  2. @ Velour:
Yes, They live in our area, and it was very sad to hear on the local news that Danny had to be rushed to the hospital last Monday. My family attended church with the Lotz’s for several years over a decade ago, and I can attest to the fact that Danny was a warrior for Christ.

He and Anne were married for 49 years. Praying for the family during this difficult time.

  3. Velour,

You are welcome. Thanks for your kind words. Wanda, thank you for the email about Danny Lotz. It's amazing the work the Lotz family has done for the Kingdom over the years. Blessings. Wade

That’s terrific to hear that the Lotz family lived in your area, that you went to church together, and that Danny was a warrior for Christ!

Yes, let’s keep this dear family in prayer.
