“We have a strange illusion that mere time cancels sin. I have heard others, and I have heard myself, recounting cruelties and falsehoods committed in boyhood as if they were no concern of the present speaker’s, and even with laughter. But mere time does nothing either to the fact or to the guilt of a sin. The guilt is washed out not by time but by repentance and the blood of Christ: if we have repented these early sins we should remember the price of our forgiveness and be humble.” –C. S. Lewis
In the next week, I plan to write about The Falls Church Anglican and their youth sex abuse crisis, another sex offender caught at Summits Crossing Community Church, and another pedophile given cover in a well-known 9 Marks-Acts29 church in Nashville. There was/is concomitant gaslighting of concerned church attendees in each of these situations. One of our long-time commenters may also present their abuse as a child to promote child safety protocols.
I am trying to follow up on some situations as they develop, such as this one today, Gateway, or Park Street Church. I hope that TWW will carefully portray what happens in churches in the middle of a crisis. This may require, from time to time, extra postings.
The Don Logan/Eternal Church situation continues.
Yesterday, I listened to the 11 AM service at Eternal Church in Fort Mill, SC, which is actually in the larger Charlotte, NC, area. For those of you just tuning in, here are three posts I wrote on Don Logan and Eternal Church.
- {Update 5.30.24} “on Log”n, Pastor of Eternal Church, SC, Is a Convicted Felon For Sexual Misconduct With a Minor. The Elders Say He Is “Above Reproach.” I Disagree.
- Pastor Don Logan of Eternal Church, Ft Mill, SC, Who Spent Time in Prison for Assaulting a Teen Female, Is Finally Raising Eyebrows.
- Warning: When Dealing Wit” People With Paraphilias, Things Are Likely Worse Than You Imagine: On Jonathan Elwing, Donald Logan, and Robert Morris.
I was alerted that the service would be different, focusing on the “recent” revelations that Don Logan had been arrested, convicted (felony), and imprisoned for misconduct with a 14-year-old female. Ten years ago, Logan was apparently approached to pastor Eternal Church. We do not know who decided this was a good idea. Was it one of those “perpetual” elders? I guess that the individual is not advertising that it was his decision.
What happened during the Sunday services, in my opinion?
I first want to present Greg Rickabaugh, who is writing for the Fort Mill Sun and offered his take on the meeting in Fort Mill, Pastor Taking Time to Rest After Sex Offense Revelation. I agree with many of his observations. As an opinion blogger, I have much more to add in the form of questions and answers.
Did Don Logan “come to Jesus” while in prison?
During his time in prison, Pastor Don had a profound encounter with Jesus, repented and was transformed,” Collins said.
This is confusing since Logan was a pastor when he hurt this teen female.
Baptist Accountability indicates that he was a youth pastor at Grace Community Church in Noblesville, Indiana, at the time of his Sexual Misconduct. It is also of note that he was a missionary to Guatemala (Mission Frontier) before being a youth pastor.
It was also reported that he had to give up his ministerial license.
So, he was a pastor and a missionary before he had a profound encounter with Jesus? It is also well-known that many criminals report encounters with Jesus and attend Bible studies, etc. since it looks good when applying for parole. Of course, some are sincere, as exemplified by the life of Charles Colson.
So, was Logan sincere about his time in prison? If he was, he was pretending about his life as a missionary and pastor before prison. Who is the real Logan?
Also, who reordained him, and with which group does Logan have ministerial/pastoral recognition?
Don Logan has been given a rest until September 1. I think this time away was to provide the leaders with time to figure out what to do.
Pastor Don would enter a “time of rest,” saying it was needed for both the publicity of his criminal past as well as his previous cancer diagnosis and treatment. Through at least Sept. 1, the teaching pastor “will not be preaching, shepherding staff or having administrative responsibilities,” Collins said.
Logan and his wife made a statement.
We are taking time to heal and seek emotional restoration and peace while we discern if we can bear the cost of continued ministry for me, my family and the church.”
It is common in circumstances such as this (sudden revelations) to give the pastor, and his wife paid leave so the church leaders can figure out how to handle a situation rapidly going downhill. Although it was apparent that the leaders believed that Logan should be the teaching pastor, they were also aware that church members were expressing concerns, with some of them leaving the church.
I am sorry that Logan had cancer, but he was not given this leave due to cancer. It was clearly given due to the revelations of his felony. It seemed that Jacob Collins played this for sympathy. it is essential to note that the elders and Logan were never forthcoming ‘to the congregation. That seems to me like they knew it would spell trouble. They would have said something if Logan and the elders cared for the congregation. Logans’ statement sounds like he is claiming to be a victim. That is baloney, and it is worrisome that he seems to be playing it that way. There is a victim in this story, but it is not Logan. The real victim is a person who is conveniently never mentioned by anyone.
Jacob Collins affirmed the”Lord’s call” on Logan and claimed it wouldn’t change. It already has. They have sidelined him for the time being. It also appears that Logan is reevaluating the situation. He should. He screwed up.
Should the elders who concealed Logan’s felony conviction resign?
Lonnie James asked the question, but he didn’t answer it. Instead, he discussed the roles of elders by quoting 1 Peter 5:1-3. After discussing this, he claimed that Don Logan produced good fruit, seemingly claiming that it meant that Logans was a good pastor. He mentioned that Logan “cast visions” for the church, which was also good fruit. In other words, he was trying to convey that Logan was good and the people who hired him hired good fruit.
He then apologized for concealing Logan’s conviction. He claimed they didn’t see the “danger ahead.” They apologized for allowing this to fester and eventually” bubbling up.”
TWW readers will smile at the following lines.
- “Satan was released to run through this place.” This affected the church’s witness.
- “Satan wants to tear this church down and does his handiwork through those who are writing about this.”
He was effective in attempting to draw the attention away from Logan and away from the decision to hide his conviction from the congregation.
I have two things to say about this:
- The involved elders should resign. They intentionally concealed Logan’s conviction from the congregation since they knew this would not be well received.
- Although Satan is always present, the entire blame for this mess rests on the elders and Logan himself, who never transparently discussed his conviction. It’s way too easy to blame this mess on Satan.
Why as the victim never mentioned?
Sadly, Eternal Church demonstrates who matters. There were prayers for Logan and his wife and their emotional distress. The elders appeared worried about their positions. During this church service, and in my discussion with Pastor Hollowell and the statements made to the Fort Mill Sun, the victim was never mentioned. There is a person out there who Logan wounded. That experience with him changed her life and probably led to the need for counseling, etc. Can anyone imagine her view of the pastor? He was a pastor, and many people are told to trust their pastor. When that role is used, instead, to abuse, it leads to suspicion of those who serve the church. Does the victim not matter? Where were the prayers for the victim during prayer time? Is she just an inconvenient truth?
Why do some pastors who harm children get a pass to teach/lead again?
Let me point out something. If a school teacher did this, she would lose her job, lose her ability ever to teach again, and probably serve time in prison. If a licensed counselor did this to a person, they would lose their license and probably serve prison time. My husband often notes that churches can exhibit lower standards than those of secular society. Teachers wouldn’t be able to teach, and counselors wouldn’t be able to counsel. But “grace” means a pastor who is a convicted sex offender can become a lead pastor? Many states are passing laws to convict pastors similarly. I have a question for the church. If a teacher molested your child, would you be up for forgiving them and letting them teach other children again? You seem comfortable with a pastor who did the same thing.
Look at 1 Timothy 3 and see what it says about those who are overseers of a church. I have highlighted some qualities that are problematic in Logan’s life.
Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task.2 Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full[a] respect. 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.
If Logan is repentant, he can be a church member and receive communion. The day he violated his pastoral license to sexually molest a minor, he gave up his pastoral license. If my husband (a cardiologist) did this to a patient, he would never practice again. Why does a pastor get a pass? Lower standards than secular society, perhaps?
Is it normal for a 29-year-old man to have a sexual interest in a 14-year-old minor? Why do the elders not mention this issue?
I wrote about this here. Please read the entire post. This problem must be dealt with carefully. It is not normal for a man to have a sexual interest in a minor teen who cannot consent. That is why this is both a crime and a deeper problem. Why won’t the elders address this elephant in the room? It is possible that Logan is still struggling with this problem. Everyone should be aware that if he has this problem, he will likely re-offend. At the minimum, how does the church keep him away from teens?
What is a paraphilia? Isn’t it just another sin?
I have used this blog to expose pedophiles in the broader Protestant church. However, my goal in writing has little to do with exposing “one more pedophile.” There always seems to be more than one more pedophile. I have hoped that the reader will understand the complicated topic of paraphilias. Comprehending the difficulties inherent in such behavior is essential to protecting you and your family.
Here is a link at the National Institutes of Health: Paraphilia by Kristy A. Fisher and Raman Marwaha that explains this.
Paraphilias are persistent and recurrent sexual interests, urges, fantasies, or behaviors of marked intensity involving objects, activities, or even situations that are atypical in nature. Although not innately pathological, a paraphilic disorder can evolve if paraphilia invokes harm, distress, or functional impairment on the lives of the affected individual or others.
…The DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for paraphilia states explicitly that the patient must have experienced intense and recurrent sexual arousal from deviant fantasies for at least six months and must have acted on these impulses. A paraphilia becomes a pathology, or a paraphilic disorder, only when this behavior causes significant distress and impairment of functioning to the individual or if the paraphilia involves personal harm or risk of harm to others
…However, due to the patient’s reluctance to seek treatment or the legal obligation to obtain treatment, psychiatrists are often forced to exceed the call of duty to the patient to reduce distress but rather focus efforts on protection against potential victimization.
Those with paraphilia are often reluctant to seek treatment. Even when they do, the counselor must focus on preventing harm to another victim.
Read the section called Prognosis. It appears that those with paraphilias are likely to reoffend.
Despite the psychological and pharmacological interventions designed to manage paraphilias and paraphilic disorders; an ultimate treatment or change has yet to be established. Existing interventions merely allow for increased voluntary control through self-management skills over sexual arousal and reduction in sexual drive, with the best-yielded prognosis only from those individuals who are actually motivated to change.[2] Those who do participate in either therapy alone or, ideally, the combined management of psychological and medicinal intervention show improvement with a marked reduction in the intensity and frequency of deviant sexual arousal and resultant behaviors.[18] However, the literature suggests that most sexual offenders are likely to re-offend.[2]
Takeaway point: Literature suggests that most sexual offenders will reoffend.
The fallacy: They repented, God forgave them, and they no longer have this problem, especially if demons have been expelled.
Sadly, many people have been fed a bunch of confusing lies. I’m sure some repent. However, there is no guarantee that when they do, their paraphilia is cured. If one reads the literature on paraphilia, one will find a long and sad history of pedophiles in the pulpit and in every phase of society. The church has not guaranteed cures for this dangerous problem. The point is relatively straightforward. Someone may wish to repent. God may forgive them, but they still battle with this thorn in their side, which is a painful and permanent part of their life. Some probably commit to never reoffending, but the urge is still present. Many do not seek long-term supportive care, and even those who do will reoffend.
Therefore, it is in the best interest of the community to help them stay away from children or the age group they prefer in their sexual crimes. Yes, folks, this is a crime. Police should be involved if there is any indication that they have a victim(s.)
Finally, let’s get back to basics.
The bottom line is this. Don Logan, who was a pastor at the time, went to prison for misconduct with a young teen girl. He decided that he wanted to be a lead pastor in a church, even though he knew his actions might prevent that from happening. He could have chosen to work with prisoners, ala Charles Colson. He could have chosen to work in halfway houses for those released from prisons. He could work in a senior home, using his skills to reach those at the end of their lives.
In the meantime, he could join a church. He should have an escort in the church setting to make sure he stays away from minors. He could get a job while volunteering at his church. Over time, he might be able to teach a class of older parishioners. In other words, the rest of his life would exemplify humility, not “the charismatic leader.” He could share his skills with a pastor and be a “net positive” to any church he joined.
This is something that bothers me. Why did he choose a life of pastor-leader when he could have chosen a more humble lifestyle? Why did he not openly share his conviction with the people when the elders permitted him to do so? Why did he not share why he was sexually interested in a minor teen as both a pastor and former missionary?
The elders in the church failed the membership. They must have believed that the congregation was just too dumb to accept a convicted sex offender when they knew better. They played “daddy” to the “children” church members.
I believe there”should be new elders appointed while accepting Don Logan’s resignation. The church could help him find an appropriate and humble job for Logan to share his talents. If this is not done, the church will be known as that church that has a sex offender in the pulpit. I spend a lot of time on Twitter and other social media sites. This will not play well with millennials who are well-versed in the dynamics of sexual abuse.
There is much for the church members to digest. Please stop with the minimization of “He repented, and all is well.” Some sins and crimes can and do have profound, lifelong effects.
In the meantime, please join me in praying for Don Logan’s victim. May God comfort her, heal her, and give her peace that passes all understanding.

Elder Lorne James was irate that Pastor Don was labeled with a Scarlet Letter because of his inclusion on the SC sex offender registry.
The Scarlet Letter for today is a story of clergy abuse. And the person that Eternal Church has shamed and abused in the place of their pastor is none other than the whistleblower whom God allowed to uncover this abomination. There is a vile Facebook post that blames the whistleblower for persecuting their church. It was given the “heart symbol” expressing love, agreement and support for the post by about 28 people including several elders of the church. Going down the list, one cannot help but notice the name Jacob Collins.
Jacob Collins is the pastor who led the “family meeting” to discuss the church scandal yesterday. He is the one who said that their were those in the church who were hurt by the church and were asking the tough questions. I can only see him now as another hypocrite who is more than willing to throw under the bus those who disagree with the company line. I don’t believe anything he said.
The persecutors of the whistleblower are abusers of the worst kind.

Headless Unicorn Guy,
It’s interesting how Lorne hijacked a term reserved for those abused BY clergy, not for clergy who abuse. How very condescending to those who truly carry the weight of the Scarlet Letter. Talk about satanic.

PS: I grew up in Salem, and Nathaniel Hawthorne’s home is next to the House of the Seven Gables. We were required to read Hawthorne’s books at Salem High School.

You also grew up in Lovecraft Country.
Salem was one of the inspirations for Lovecraft’s fictional Arkham.

It is actually very interesting that puritan literature reflects the (awful) cultural effects of Calvinism in 17th century New England. Young Goodman Brown is a short story by Hawthorn that is an allegory of the loss of faith as one of “the elect”. If you do a search on Herman Melville and the influence Calvinism (Dutch reformed) had on him and how it influenced his writing it is fascinating. Protecting predators and re-victimizing victims is nothing new….sadly.

Good catch that in all of this, where is their concern for the victim? The pastor is not the victim. And as you pointed out: I too often think that, what if one of these wanted to teach your children or grandchildren? Would you be ok with them being left in a room with your’s? I think of Psalm 50:16-18. Why do they not get another, different type of job?!

“We are taking time to heal and seek emotional restoration and peace while we discern if we can bear the cost of continued ministry for me, my family and the church.”
This is shocking though not surprising.
Weighing whether he can bear the cost? Needing emotional restoration and peace?
What was the cost to the victim of this man’s choice as grown man? What has it been like for her to bear the cost of his abuse?
Has she experienced emotional restoration and peace?
The self-centered victimhood and detachment from reality is mind-blowing.

It strikes me as a bit odd to hear commentary on DL’s concealed past characterized by church leaders as a work of Satan. The Scriptures speak of Satan as a deceiver and a liar, in addition to an accuser. Where is the deception and the lie in the commentary about DL’s past? It seems to me that it is the elders who were previously, IMO, involved in something approaching deception in their concealment of an important matter from the congregation.

Samuel Conner,
Yes. I thought the same when they talked about Satan holding the card for ten years until they got big and built a building. Then, I suppose Satan handed the card to a whistleblower??? But they created the card. Is he saying they are Satan? I don’t understand his logic. I guess they hope throwing Satan’s name around will distract from the truth? Hmmm spiritual abuse is complicated.

I’ve wondered if DL did anything he shouldn’t have done while he was a missionary in Guatemala before he became a youth pastor ….. which was before he had his “profound encounter with Jesus”???
Are there more victims from either before or after the act that earned him a prison sentence?
What are the chances he only abused one person in all of that time?
(I have also wondered if he might have learned some things while in prison …. like lessons from more experienced felons on how to cover up , or get away with, or get sympathy for not getting away with committing a crime.)

Mr. Logan’s child-victim never received paid emotional leave. I can only imagine what she has struggled with emotionally, mentally, and spiritually all these years. Abuse by a trusted church leader is hard to deal with … as several TWW commenters would testify. The Church of the Living God should never restore such leaders to ministry … indeed, Scripture warns us about this:
“Do not hurry to lay hands on anyone [ordaining and approving someone for ministry or an office in the church, or in reinstating expelled offenders], and thereby share in the sins of others; keep yourself free from sin.” (1 Timothy 5:22 AMP)

A good question to ask. What is indisputably true about Don Logan and Eternal Church? I submit the following:
1) In 2014, after due diligence, the perpetual elders hired a convicted child sex offender to lead the church; Logan was proactive in sharing his story. Apparently the elders did not consider his background important enough to share with the voting members.
2) A search for education and employment background shows that Logan graduated with a BS from Bible school in Cincinnati in 1989 and began work in August 2008 as a missionary in Guatemala. According to his profile, he has worked there continuously through 2024:
https://www.linkedin.com/in/don-logan-b876999
3) As part of his plea agreement in 1997, Logan agreed to relinquish his ministerial credentials.
4) On 03/26/1999, the court approved
Logan’s employment at Mallory Controls.
5) Immediately preceding his marriage in 2001 he was employed by Premium Surface Fabrication, in Westfield. Ind. The marriage ceremony was held on April 21, 2001 at Grace Community Church in Noblesville. Ind.
6) Apparently he moved to Carlyle, PA around 2005. The church website from April 2008 shows he was on staff at Carlisle Brethren in Christ Church as Coordinator of Worship Media and Website. According to his bio, he wanted the church to know that he is very good at acting.
https://web.archive.org/web/20081007030005/http://www.carlislebic.org/167522.ihtml
“Something interesting about me that most people don’t know: I have had leads in many musicals and plays in high school, college, and adulthood. I also used to be a world-ranked synchronized swimmer”
7) After returning from Guatemala around 2013, he was a pastor at Green Spring BIC until his call to Eternal Church in early 3015.
8)I have been unable to trace his work history from 1989 to his conviction in 1997. I assume that at some point he was employed as a minister because of his plea deal.
9) The other missing work experience is how and where he was able to be re-ordained to ministry from 2001 to 2008.
I have asked Eternal Church to provide the missing work experience from their due diligence in 2014 but have not heard back.

I’m not sure that the elders see where the deceiver/accuser has been working in this. We always see this defence by church leaders when one of their own is put under a spotlight … that “whistleblowers”, media, and watchblogs are working for the devil. Scripture says that which comes against the church falls in three categories: the world, the flesh and the devil. Seems to me that there is a lot of flesh involved among church leaders who are controlling the narrative through manipulation, intimidation, and domination. Satan hasn’t come against them from the outside … the deceiver/accuser has been inside the camp.

There isn’t any, because they still see the victim as an enemy of their pastor, hence also their church.
They do not or do not want to understand that the real enemy of their church is the paid actor standing on a stage infront of them up to 3 times a week.

Dale Rudiger,
“He is the one who said that their were those in the church who were hurt by the church…”
++++++++++++++++
“hurt”… people who recognize dishonest, manipulative, cruel, & imprudent behavior in a church are not hurt.
they have a conscience and the courage of their convictions.
although as far as courage goes, being vocal and stating “this is dishonest” (manipulative, cruel, imprudent) is merely standard operating procedure for integrity.
labeling them as ‘hurt’ implies they aren’t altogether rational and aren’t to be taken seriously.
entirely self-serving on the part of jacob collins & other church leaders
& those who give their silent assent to such characterization instead of exercising basic integrity & calling it out.

“They must have believed that the congregation was just too dumb to accept a convicted sex offender when they knew better. They played ‘daddy’ to the ‘children’ church members.” — A perfect analysis.
When you hear Don Logan and read Jonathan Elwing’s pastoral postings on his website I think you are hard pressed to find much of anything that distinguishes it from the preaching, teaching, and writing of most evangelical pastors, including all the big shots. And that’s the alarming thing. That Elwing can be writing that stuff while actively producing child porn just proves that *quality preaching, teaching, writing, leading, and vision-casting are just so many ordinary human skills and not any kind of evidence of a “call” or special work of the Holy Spirit. We Christians need to stop considering these things evidence of anything at all.
*By quality I don’t mean praise but just something that passes the bar for evangelicals and doesn’t stick out as heretical or weird.

… and are better equipped to identify when a church is hurting others, so they speak into problems because they want the hurt to stop.
Manipulation intended to dominate the matter at hand. Herein lies yet another problem with authoritarian church leaders … folks in the pew simply cannot trust every word from every pastor/elder as truth … don’t let them think for you.

This is textbook DARVO in this Facebook post made by Brian Brenner, owner of “Original Design Builders LLC”, a Fort Mill real estate and construction business.
Let’s look at just a few parts of his vile post.
“Explain this to me…does the truth matter any more?”
It does, which is why it’s so important for the truth about Don Logan and his pedophile-defending elder board to be revealed to the congregation and to the general public.
“Does anyone deserve a platform like Joshua Sale or Julie Berglind Sale who have chosen in their self righteousness to re-litigate, persecute and punish a man and now his family for distant sin for which he has already paid a severe price by legal and personal standards? ”
Notice how Brenner reverses the roles of victim and offender. He falsely accuses the victim and her defenders of being “self-righteous” persecutors.
Brenner provides no evidence that the victim and her defends are motivated by self-righteousness.
He simply lobs that unfounded accusation, in the hope that it will tarnish the reputation of the victim, and cause people to question her motives.
Notice that Brenner also tries to manipulate the emotions of his readers by dragging Logan’s family into the discussion.
Um, his family aren’t the victims for finding out the truth about Logan and his crime.
In fact, his family have every right to know.
Also notice how Brenner minimizes, trivializes, and downplays Logan’s rape of a 14 year-old girl by dismissing it as “distant sin.”
Um, the victim has to live with the pain and humiliation and hurt caused by the rape, every day of her life.
It isn’t distant to her.
“he has already paid a severe price by legal and personal standards? ”
Logan was sentences to 3 years in prison, and released on parole after 1 year and 6 months behind bars.
That isn’t a particularly severe price for such a serious crime.
“Does it matter that a free lance writer at the Fort Mill Sun can find someone that was a member of the church for two weeks to ad lib her opinions”
Here Brenner tries to attack and discredit the messenger to distract people’s attention from the allegations against Logan.
Firstly, there is no evidence that the reporter has “ad-libbed” her own opinions into the article.
Secondly, how is it relevant that the article’s author is a “free lance writer”?
Is Brenner hoping that people will dismiss the article’s content because it was written by a “free lance writer” rather than a full-time salaried reporter?
The author’s freelance status is irrelevant. What IS relevant is the fact that Logan raped a 14 year-old girl, and he and his elder board concealed that fact from the church’s congregation.
“someone that was a member of the church for two weeks”
How is this relevant? I’m pretty sure that Jesus never said that the duration of a person’s membership in a church is relevant.
In fact, the opposite is true: in the Parable of the laborers in the vineyard who get paid the same wages for working a shorter period of time, Jesus emphasizes that all Christians have equal value, regardless of how long they have been a Christian.
Yet again, Brenner is trying to distract everyone from Logan’s crime and the elders’ coverup, by attacking innocent parties.
“with by her own admission very little material facts and write an incomplete article that is doing nothing but sewing seeds of fear and pain in the community?”
Firstly, there is no evidence that the whistleblowers have caused any “fear” or “pain” to anyone except Logan and his elders, by revealing who have revealed Logan’s crime and the elders’ coverup.
Secondly, even if “fear and pain in the community” has been caused, that is irrelevant.
Brenner seems to be arguing that horrific crimes should be covered up, in order to avoid causing “fear and pain” in the community.
That is the total opposite of Jesus’ Teachings. Jesus says that the truth shall set us free.
Jesus is the God of truth. Jesus wants the truth to be revealed.
Brenner’s mentality is the complete opposite of Jesus’ Teachings.
Brenner wants to cover up sexual abuse against children, because he feels that revealing it will rock the boat and cause inconvenience for the lofty Big Boss pastor and his pompous elder board.
Sorry Brenner, we aren’t going to ignore sexual abuse just because exposing it causes “fear and pain” to the creeps who want to cover it up.
The excuse of “oh, we don’t want to air dirty laundry in public” has been used to cover up all sorts of terrible crimes and enable the offenders to continue offending, since time immemorial.
This mentality is un-Christian and needs to stop.
“Should they have a platform even when they have repeatedly rejected overtures to engage in dialogue with the pastor, elders, and broader church community they persecute?”
Why should the rape victim feel obligated to “engage in dialogue” with the rapist and his enabling elders, who have already shown that they don’t care about the victim, and don’t consider pedophilia to be a big deal.
One elder openly says that he wants to abolish the sex offender registry because it causes “hurt” to pedophiles.
Why should the victim feel the need to engage with callous stone-hearted men such as these elders and their rapist boss?
As revealed by the behavior of Logan, the coverup-perpetrating elders, and their execrable defenders, the only thing that would happen in a dialogue between the victim and the church leadership, is that the church leadership would attempt to intimidate/manipulate/gaslight the victim into continuing with the coverup and not revealing what Logan did to her.
Logan and his sleazy conniving elders aren’t interested in a genuine dialogue with the victim. They are only interested in silencing the victim and sweeping the crime under the carpet, so their coverup can continue, and they can go on with business as usual.
Also notice how Brenner again manipulatively tries to reverse the roles of victim and offender, by repeating his false accusation that the victim is “persecuting” Logan, the elders, and the church.
“There is no cover-up,”
If there’s no coverup, then why didn’t the elders inform the congregation of Logan’s rape conviction when they asked the congregation to vote to hire him? Why have they concealed Logan’s conviction from the congregation all these years?
Sounds like a coverup.
The elders aren’t even sorry for hiring the convicted sex offender, nor are they sorry for concealing his conviction from their congregation.
The elders merely apologized for not planning damage mitigation measures in advance, so they wouldn’t be caught off-guard the day the truth was revealed.
“Maybe there are some reading this that have fallen into sin. Maybe adultery, pornography, pride, idols that you put before God,…let’s open your book and see if you are living under the authority of God”
Firstly, these sins are a lot less serious than an adult raping a 14 year-old girl, or hiring a convicted rapist and concealing it from the congregation.
Secondly, the people who Brenner is complaining about (the whistleblowers) aren’t the leaders of a church.
Being a Christian minister is (or at least should be) a profession that requires a much higher standard of moral probity than any old random job.
If the whistleblowers ever apply to be Christian ministers and lead a church, then they will face the level of scrutiny that comes with such a position.
Until then, Brenner can get lost with his manipulative “but what about you?” tactics.
“Or maybe you are focused on making yourself feel good by pointing out other’s sin over your own”
Or maybe people don’t want a convicted rapist holding a position of spiritual power and authority over innocent and defenseless children and women.
“This is “truth” and it matters beyond anything else. Let’s write about it, let’s celebrate it, let’s live under its authority!”
That’s rich, coming from the hypocrite Brenner who is complaining that the truth was exposed, and wishes that the truth hadn’t been revealed, so Logan and his colluding elders could continue the coverup and business as usual.
People may be interested to know that Brian Brenner is the owner of “Original Design Builders LLC”, a real estate and construction firm in Fort Mill SC. Potential customers may wish to take Brenner’s views into account, before doing business with him. Do you want to hire a construction firm whose owner views raping a 14 year-old as “distant sin” which shouldn’t be publicly exposed, and who refers to the victim as a persecutor?

Commenter23,
Brenner’s words, particularly his words about the writer, indicate that he is trying to convince the pew peons that court records, prison records, and sex offender registries are nothing more than tools specifically created to provide fodder for idle gossipers with nothing better to do.
What other felony crimes would this pompous fool keep secret to her and keep the tithes and offerings rolling in….. What other felony crimes would he call “distant” sins???

Update on Gateway:
“…the megachurch [Gateway] settled a lawsuit [April 2024] in which at least five Gateway Church pastors and a youth leader were accused of concealing the sexual assault of a minor by another member…”
https://www.christianpost.com/news/gateway-church-settled-lawsuit-alleging-sexual-assault-of-minor.html
“…[Cindy Clemishire] said two other men touched her inappropriately at her home when she was a child, but she said she did not initiate those interactions. In one instance, Clemishire said, it was Morris who instructed her, when she was 13, to go into a bedroom at her childhood home where another traveling evangelist was staying. Once she was inside, she said, the man, whom she declined to name, began to kiss her but eventually pulled away and told her she was too young.
In another instance, in 1986, Clemishire said, another man who was staying with her family climbed on top of her while she was sleeping on a sofa bed next to his 3-year-old daughter. She believed he planned to rape her, but she said the man suddenly got off of her.”

Cindy Cleminshire has said that Pastor Robert Morris set her up to be violated by other pastors that stayed in her family home, beginning when she was 12. Morris told her to visit them in the guest bedroom, and apparently advised them of the opportunity to violate her, which they did.
So apparently Morris was trafficking his victim in her family home, his host family, unbeknownst to her parents. Right in their home, as they showed hospitality to pastors coming through, these pastors violated their daughter.
2 requirements to stop and prevent this, suggested:
1. Stop trusting pastors. The trust factor given to these guys is an enormous liability. They can preach and teach, but should they be granted this high level of trust? Obviously, no.
2. Stop pastors’ access to families and children. Pastors 100% access to women, youth, and families offers church as a hunting ground for predators. Target rich. Establish boundaries. Pastor can preach and teach from high up there on the podium. But mingling should be highly scrutinized or even verboten.
Stay away from clerics or clergy wearing the cloth. Cleminshire’s parents had no idea what they were dealing with – even in their own home. We do NOT know these guys. Not every clergyman is a predator. Problem is, we DO NOT KNOW who the predators are until it is too late and the damage is done.
Boundaries. Boundaries are the only and ultimate prevention tool.

Never forget that the two bloodiest political Cults of the last century – Nazism and Communism – were centered around a Culture of CONSPIRACY.
Because CONSPIRACY always expands to consume everything into its totally airtight system:
Lack of evidence for The Conspiracy is PROOF The Conspiracy can silence/scrub Anything.
Evidence against The Conspiracy is Disinformation from The Conspiracy to the stupid sheeple.
Anyone who doubts the existence of The Conspiracy IS part of The Conspiracy.
And of course, the LIONS alone (NOT the Sheeple) KNOW What’s REALLY Going On.

The Dwarfs are for The Dwarfs, and Won’t Be Taken In.

From the Ft Mill Sun, we see the writer goes by “Ricky Bobby”. A couple weeks ago on the 1st OP a former eternal deacon also going by Ricky Bobby complained about click bait and vouched for the eternal pastor. The moniker isn’t a coincidence. The real Ricky Bobby had been insulted by commenters on his site, with the worst insult one could come up with being “liberal” which the real R B says is untrue. “Liberal” was also used here to insult Dale, who uses his full name. Meanwhile Commenter 24 insults Commenter 23 for NOT using a full name I’m not saying eternal elders are posting the insults, but their satanic statements certainly encourage them. No doubt their social media pages, emails, and phones blowing up. At some point they will update their website to remove contact information, phone numbers, etc. I also suspect their X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, etc and other accounts will be deactivated or go private shortly. As a hardworking teacher of 40 years, (I loved it, but am now retired and with numerous physical parts that have had to be fixed (feet, hands, back, hips) from the years of wear and tear of carrying, lifting, standing, not going to the bathroom when needed, working through lunch, doing yard duties in hot and cold weather; teaching summer school to make ends meet, etc. On Sundays, I led the choir, led worship music, and did music planning during the week…after summer school, I directed years of VBS -loved it all) Therefore, I have little sympathy for “snowflake” “Pastors” who have never really worked very hard, and who now need “emotional resting” – “time out to heal”- all because they have hurt other people!!! To them and all the “wise Elders” I say, “man-up” – don’t be afraid of life and of working outside the church. That’s where most people are. Stop seeking shelter from your past sins, stop covering your sins with “half-truths” – stop relying on protections you cunningly devise, and stop whining! Stop misappropriating the tithes and offerings of those hard working people in the chairs (or pews). You are not better, and not entitled to stand behind a pulpit or lectern. Stop shaming the Gospel of Christ and His Church. Jesus’ blood was not shed for your interpretation of His Grace. Stop cheapening it! Every person who has been involved in your cover-up in some way is accountable to God, “from Whom no secrets are hidden.” (Book of Common Prayer)

And to pewsitters with such leaders, Scripture shouts: “No longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming” (Ephesians 4:14)

“Cheap grace means grace sold on the market like cheapjacks’ wares … Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, communion without confession, absolution without personal confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate.” (Dietrich Bonhoeffer)
There’s a lot of cheap grace being tossed around in the American church. Many churchgoers have forgotten what true Grace cost … it cost God the life of His Son. And we act like we can say and do what we want to in His Church … but when we do, it is not His Church at all … it is another gospel which is not ‘the’ Gospel and we end up doing church without God and His Son.

It’s a bit late for that. Their elders have already let the mask slip and revealed their callous, stone-hearted attitude toward victims of sexual abuse.
If they change their tune, it will only be because of the public outrage, not because the elders are actually sorry.
Instead of expressing sympathy for the victim, the elders manipulatively tried to portray the victim as a “persecutor” of the rapist.
Instead of apologizing for hiring a rapist and concealing it from the congregation, the elders decided to go “the sex offender registry causes hurt for pedophiles and should be abolished” route.
Let’s see how that works out for them.
I strongly urge any members of eternal church who have children to leave eternal church and find a new church. It’s very clear that the elders of eternal church care more about the feelings of pedophiles, than they do about the safety of children (and women).

Now there are significantly less and as you scroll, you see “The comment …. is replying to has been deleted” many times. The ones deleted seem to be all from staff members. The 2 posts by Brian Brenner have both been deleted now. The church’s entire FB account is gone. They must have been told they were on the verge of a lawsuit. How in the WORLD they still have the 9:00 service video on their website, I have no idea. I read Dale’s description, but watching it was more horrifying than I thought. The Meeting House mega in Canada is empty, no longer meeting. Their insurance company dropped them after clergy sex misconduct, LE visits, and the DOJ steps in.
Lawyers? What would Jeff Anderson Associates do … so how best to avoid that.
Reality strikes again.

“There very well may be more website articles, Facebook posts and other media yet to come. We as a church leadership are NOT focused on trying to respond to every such post in an endless game of whack-a-mole.” From Pastor Jacob Collins, Eternal Church, Sunday 7/7/24, 9 am “heart check” sermon.

He most likely was very vocal in the elder’s damage control meeting … “Let me at these demonic accusers. I’ll send the devil running!” (or something of that sort)
It was his test to prove himself worthy of being tapped to join the inner ring … he failed, only creating more damage to control.

I had a snowflake pastor once who didn’t even know how to use a hammer on a mission trip … he literally did not know how to climb a ladder or drive a nail! It was pitiful thing.
I suppose some men “go” into the ministry, rather than being “called” into ministry because it’s easy work. With a touch of charisma, gift of gab, and working knowledge of the Bible, just about anyone can make a living off the “gospel.”
There are so many snowflakes in the American church that the drifts are piling up high across the landscape.

Don Logan has been dismissed. An email has been sent to the congregation.
They are grateful for Don’s ten years of service. After more prayer and discernment they conclude that the biblical qualifications of 1 Tim. 3:1-7 are not met. They apologized for not informing the congregation of the conviction. They seek forgiveness for those who have been hurt. They promise to make amends.

I have received and reviewed the case file.
1) Logan was fired from his position as youth pastor in Kirkland IN after a sexual indiscretion.
2) He moved to Geneva OH where he was an associate pastor.
3) He returned to visit Kirkland where early on New Year’s Day he SA’ed a 14 yo girl who was previously under his ministerial care. He asked her to sit on his lap under a blanket while the teens all watched a movie.
4) The victim impact statements were powerful. The testimonies of the victim and her friend describe a seriously perverse offender.
5) One member of the Ohio church spoke the truth. “Don Logan fits the profile of a predator, he is cunning and patient. He is also very charismatic and convincing, many people are drawn to him and like him. This, Your Honor, combined with the fact that he is a minister is a dangerous combination.”
6) The statements in support of Logan by his Geneva church confirm his ability to groom a congregation.

This makes me wonder how old was she when he started grooming her?

nmgirl,
Logan says he graduated from college in 1989, and the the victim knew him for eight years at the time of the assault. This leads me to believe he started in ministry at the church in Kirkland.

I am reading through the twenty-two testimonials written in August 1997 before his sentencing by those who knew Don Logan, both parents and children. I felt like a complete failure as a Christian in comparison to what they were saying about this man. They all confirmed his solid character from 1995 to 1997. He led many to Christ. The parents and children both ADORED him.
It was all a facade put on by a gifted actor. While he was the model saint in Geneva, he was a sexual predator in Kirkland.

Clinton County Clerk of Court in Frankfort Indiana. The entire case file is 203 pages.

“Our decision to release Don was made with much prayer and discernment around the biblical qualifications for overseers of the church set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-7. Retaining Don as our pastor is not consistent with the truth, wisdom, and practicality in this text.”
These elders STILL DON’T GET IT. Retaining? The question that shouts for an answer is “When was Don disqualified?”
When he was fired from Kirkland from his position as youth pastor? When he groomed the parents and children in Geneva? When he was convicted of SAing a 14 yo child? When he was re-hired at his Father-in-law’s church in Carlisle? When he was hired to be a pastor in Guatemala? When he pastored at Green Spring? When he was hired at Eternal? When the whistleblower approached the leadership last September?
All the while, all it took was a phone call to Clinton County to confirm the truth.

“Don, Heather and family are all our brothers and sisters in Christ; we are not abandoning them. They are welcome to remain among us as members of our church community;”
Question: Was there deception on the part of Pastor Don? Shouldn’t church discipline be required for restoration to membership at Eternal? At least an investigation?

Dale Rudiger,
I was one of the people who vehemently disagreed with what the elders intially did, how they handled themselves and the situation up until the firing. However, I do not believe God would want us to condemn this man or his family. Not sure why you as a Christian would not welcome anyone into your church. We are called to serve the least and the lost, we are called to love and we are called to let God discipline his children. It’s been handled, he has been let go. He has children who are innocent in all of this, we should be supporting them. Nobody will ever know if Don truly repented and changed his life after jail. That is between him and God, we are not called to ostracize him or his family. We are all aware now and can put protective measures in place to ensure safety, if he chooses to attend Eternal. If people choose to stay at Eternal, they are clearly aware. Personally, I will not be staying because I disagree with how the elders and some staff so strongly supported Don and minimized the victim. However, if I stayed I would definitely treat Don and his family as Christ has called us as Christians to do. The rest is for God to handle, we all will one day be held accountable for our sins. We should be praying for him, his family, the church, the staff, the church community and the victim.

A wolf in shepherd’s clothing … disguised as an angel of light. The American pulpit is replete with such characters. We read about them all the time on TWW.

I read in in school. Looking back it struck me as an tale of ever-increasing Paranoia until that Paranoia cuts Goodman Brown off from outside reality.
The theoretical End Stage of Protestantism (achieved by A.W.Pink among others), “Us Four, No More, AAAA-MEN!” minus three, the One True Church of One. Also expresed in Bob Dylan’s “Talking John Birch Society Blues”.

The One True Church of One….exactly. The only voice in the room. The Scarlett Letter came up in a ladies bible study once and I listened as they all commented on the sins of Hester Prynne on and on and finally I had to point out the obvious…the response was chilly. Then there was the time with the Bathsheba disagreement. Yikes! Now here we are witnessing the church mob dismiss and even attack the countless victims of today. It is really making my eye twitch. Bob Dylan – very appropriate soundtrack!
