A Morning Prayer: Syrian Clementine Liturgy link

O God, Who are the unsearchable abyss of peace, the ineffable sea of love,
the fountain of blessings, and the bestower of affection, Who sends peace to those that receive it;
open to us this day the sea of Your love, and water us with the plenteous streams from the riches of Your grace.
Make us children of quietness, and heirs of peace. Kindle in us the fire of Your love; sow in us Your fear;
strengthen our weakness by Your power; bind us closely to You and to each other in one firm bond of unity;
for the sake of Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

A prayer of Basil of Caesarea 329-379 link

Steer the ship of my life, good Lord, to your quiet harbour, where I can be safe from the storms of sin and conflict.
Show me the course I should take. Renew in me the gift of discernment, so that I can always see the right direction in which I should go.
And give me the strength and the courage to choose the right course, even when the sea is rough and the waves are high,
knowing that through enduring hardship and danger in your name we shall find comfort and peace.
Amen

A prayer of Martin Luther:1483-1546 link

Behold, Lord, An empty vessel that needs to be filled. My Lord, fill it. I am weak in faith; Strengthen thou me.
I am cold in love; Warm me and make me fervent That my love may go out to my neighbour.
I do not have a strong and firm faith; At times I doubt and am unable to trust thee altogether. O Lord, help me.
Strengthen my faith and trust in thee. In thee I have sealed the treasures of all I have.
I am poor; Thou art rich and didst come to be merciful to the poor. I am a sinner; Thou art upright.
With me there is an abundance of sin; In thee is the fullness of righteousness.
Therefore, I will remain with thee of who I can receive But to whom I may not give.
Amen.

Benediction: Elizabeth Raine link

May the God who shakes heaven and earth,
whose Spirit blows through the valleys and the hills;
whom death could not contain and
who lives to disturb and bring us life;
bless us with the power to endure,
to hope and to love.
Amen

  1. Thx, Dee, for another lovely ensemble of music, prayer, and thoughts from a fellow traveler on our way, following Jesus. Let us remember we are in the holy presence of God.

    I second that.
