A Prayer of Dietrich Bonhoeffer Link
O God, early in the morning I cry to you.
Help me to pray
And to concentrate my thoughts on you:
I cannot do this alone.
In me there is darkness,
But with you there is light;
I am lonely, but you do not leave me;
I am feeble in heart, but with you there is help;
I am restless, but with you there is peace.
In me there is bitterness, but with you there is patience;
I do not understand your ways,
But you know the way for me…
Restore me to liberty,
And enable me to live now
That I may answer before you and before me.
Lord, whatever this day may bring,
Your name be praised.
Amen
A Prayer of Anselm of Canterbury (1033-1109) Link
O merciful God, fill our hearts, we pray, with the graces of Your Holy Spirit,
With love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.
Teach us to love those who hate us, to pray for those who despitefully use us,
That we may be the children of our Father,
Who makes Your sun shine on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
In adversity, grant us grace to be patient; in prosperity keep us humble;
May we guard the door of our lips; may we lightly esteem the pleasures of this world,
And thirst after heavenly things; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.”
The Nicene Creed link
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God,
begotten of His Father before all worlds,
God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made,
being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made;
who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven
and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man;
and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried.
And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures
and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father.
And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead,
whose kingdom will have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets.
And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church, I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins,
and I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
Pete Briscoe, Stuart’s son, announced today that Stuart passed away at the age of 91.

Benediction: Jude 24-25 Link
To him who is able to keep you from stumbling
And to present you before his glorious presence without fault
And with great joy to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority,
Through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore!
Amen.

Thx, Dee, once again for eChurch, truly a labor of love you share with all of us.
Warning: on the “I Will Change Your Name” video at 1.05, there appears to be a woman or girl who is not clothed. Indeed, with closer view, she is wearing shorts or short trousers. The still photo, IMHO, is a bit in poor taste. So, maybe listen but look away if that is troublesome.
The performance is by D.J. Butler, “I Will Change Your Name” (Mercy/Vineyard, 1987), but the video was put together with photos and uploaded by chiquipolo – bless her heart.
In case you were wondering:
“Dr. Chiqui Polo-Wood is an international author, pastor, academic dean (Shiloh University), speaker, teacher and mentor of women. Since giving her heart to Jesus at age 15 she has served in many areas of ministry in several nations. In addition, her 20 years in the business world has instilled in her a dual passion for both marketplace ministry as well as church ministry. She is an avid believer that every person is called to mission, whether that is within the church or outside the church walls.
“Chiqui is passionate for the Word and the presence of God, and continually amazed at the realization that our Father has chosen to partner with us to establish His kingdom on earth. Her desire and goal in ministry is to see the Body of Christ fully equipped to live in freedom to do all the Father has prepared for us to do.
“Chiqui lives in Texas with her husband, Kerry, where they lead Table of Friends, a relationally-based and discipleship-oriented church. They love ministering together both locally and abroad.
“Chiqui earned her Master of Divinity (Outstanding Scholar) and Doctor of Ministry degrees from The King’s University, Los Angeles, California.”

Evangelical Lutheran Hymnary #61
A Lutheran hymn from a poem of Princess Eugénie, daughter of Oscar I, King of Sweden and Norway, 1830-1889.
A melancholy joyful praise, like only the Scandinavians of the north countries can render.

RIP Stuart Briscoe. May he be received into YHWH’s presence with joy and honor.

One could add that in Paul’s thinking, at the Resurrection of the Just, the dead are raised with incorruptible, immortal bodies that resemble Jesus’ transformed body. Not much is said about this in the NT, but it appears that this is a significantly better form of material embodiment than we now experience. [NT Wright has called this “transformed physicality” (I think he coined a neologism, “transphysicality”, as shorthand for this new form (or perhaps “New Creation form”) of embodiment).] That’s probably also in view in Paul’s terse “and to die is gain”.
