For Light to Follow You: A Collect 440 AD link

O Lord,
direct our steps this day
into the way of peace,
and strengthen our hearts
to obey your commandments.
May the Dayspring visit us from on high,
and give light
to those who sit in darkness
and the shadow of death,
that they may adore you for your mercy,
follow you for your truth,
desire you for your sweetness,
for you are the blessed Lord God of Israel,
now and forever.
Amen.

The Holy Trinity: Historic Collect for the Holy Trinity: Late Gregorian

Almighty and eternal God,
you have given your servants
who confess of the true faith
the duty to acknowledge
the glory of the eternal Trinity,
and to worship the true Unity
in the power of the divine majesty.
Keep us steadfast in this faith,
and always defend us from all adversities;
for you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
live and reign,
one God, now and forever.
Amen

You Lay Bare our Sins: Mozarabic Collect

O God,
you lay bare our sins
when we cloak them with empty excuses,
and in your compassionate wisdom
you remove all doubt
from things uncertain,
and bring forth to light
what was hidden.
When our evil
has been brought home to our conscience,
sprinkle on us the dew of your mercy
and make us white as snow.
Help us amend our lives,
turn your face from our sins,
blot out all our iniquities
and renew our hearts
by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,
that rejoicing in his indwelling,
we may continually open our lips
to declare your praise;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

Ephesians 2:10 NIV

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Benediction link

Lord God,
we rejoice in your greatness and power,
your gentleness and love,
your mercy and justice.
Enable us by your Spirit
to honour you in our thoughts,
and words and actions,
and to serve you in every aspect of our lives;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

  1. Wade, and Robert, and Nichole (beautiful song), thanks so much for sharing. Your “conversation” was God’s message as lived. God bless.

You mentioned we could ask for prayer as we follow how we believe the Holy Spirit has called us. So here it is: I believe God has called me to write about Jesus saving girls who are preyed upon. They need to know that Jesus is not predatory nor is God a predatory Father. So pray that I can keep writing, and that the writing would reach the intended audience. Thanks.

  2. Ava Aaronson: They need to know that Jesus is not predatory nor is God a predatory Father.

I agree with this. It brought to my mind a billboard message I saw not too long ago with a picture of Malala Yousafzai and the statement “Girls need to know history, so they can make history.”

  3. Ava Aaronson: Would you like prayer for your calling, as Pastor Wade suggests we seek, embrace and pray about?

Well, I don’t know about the language, “my calling”, other than to listen. As I listen, what is on my mind is my sister who is currently recovering from a short hospitalization. Also, I think often of young adults who’ve now lived through 9/11, the 2008 financial crisis, 2016 and all that, and now COVID-19. I didn’t think about the string of all those until I heard one of the young adults in my life lay it all out like that. They are underserved. I heard a famous analyst say that, putting words to what I had already known for quite some time.
