Morning prayer for 440 AD link

O Lord, direct our steps this day into the way of peace,
and strengthen our hearts to obey your commandments.
May the Dayspring visit us from on high,
and give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death,
that they may adore you for your mercy, follow you for your truth,
desire you for your sweetness, for you are the blessed Lord God of Earth, now and forever.
Amen.

A Prayer Attributed to St. Francis link

Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is discord, union;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
Grant that we may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and
it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.

Prayer by (Ambrose of Milan, c 339-397 link

O Lord, who hast mercy upon all, take away from me my sins,
and mercifully kindle in me the fire of thy Holy Spirit.
Take away from me the heart of stone,
and give me a heart of flesh,
a heart to love and adore thee,
a heart to delight in thee,
to follow and to enjoy thee,
for Christ’s sake.
Amen

Acts 2:42-47 NIV

They devoted themselves to the apostles teachingĀ and to fellowship,
to the breaking of breadĀ and to prayer.
Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.
All the believers were together and had everything in common.
They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.
They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,
praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.
And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

An ancient folk blessing link

May there always be
work for your hands to do.

May your purse always
carry a shilling or two.

May the sun always
play on your window pane.

May a rainbow chase after
each spot of rain.

May the hand of a friend
always be near you.

May God fill your heart with
gladness and cheer you.

Amen

  1. Ok, Pastor Wade et al who are on the same page as this message: there is fear among believers of not being able to meet in their “church”, as it may be boarded up for whatever reason, now or in the future.

    However, there are other believers now and yesterday and in the future, who have fear of going into that “sacred” building, that “holy” gathering, because they know that predators are in there embedded in the “fellowship”.

    Real fear. Real experience. Reality.

    The Hunting Ground.

  2. Looking forward to the presentation by the lady fighter pilot at Emmanuel Enid, “What we need is for people to just get out of our way, so we can be who God wants us to be.”

  3. I have the dreaded chest cough and am scheduled for a covid test today. No fever (yet). Could use some prayers…

  4. We are the low-hanging fruit. Not even consumers but the consumed. Slurped by the slobbering chop-lickers.

    No thought to help us bear quality fruits ourselves.

  5. ishy,

    Sure thing. My sister in law had Covid. You’re going to feel very tired and your limbs may feel excessively heavy. She lost her sense of smell and taste as well. Covid is different than your regular flu/cold. If you experience difficulty breathing please go to the hospital. My sister in law and brother in law cleared the illness in about 8 days with a few days of general fatigue, I hope for the same for you. Take care.

  6. My apologies for signing in with a name that is the one I use on another board. I should have used “Victorious.”

    I’m a bit confused today….:(

  7. Jack,
    Thank you, Jack. The test was negative, but she confirmed my congestion and said that I should follow up, so I will.
