EChurch@Wartburg: 02/22/2020: Wade Burleson: Christ in You Is Your Hope of Glory

Flowers and Snow.

A Prayer of Augustine link

O Lord my God, I believe in you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Insofar as I can, insofar as you have given me the power, I have sought you.
I became weary and I labored. O Lord my God, my sole hope,
help me to believe and never to cease seeking you.
Grant that I may always and ardently seek out your countenance.
Give me the strength to seek you, for you help me to find you
and you have more and more given me the hope of finding you.
Here I am before you with my firmness and my infirmity.
Preserve the first and heal the second.
Here I am before you with my strength and my ignorance.
Where you have opened the door to me, welcome me at the entrance;
where you have closed the door to me, open to my cry;
enable me to remember you, to understand you, and to love you.
Amen.

Prayer of St Ambrose of Milan, 337–397 AD link

O Lord, who has mercy upon all, take away from me my sins,
and mercifully kindle in me the fire of Your Holy Spirit.
Take away from me the heart of stone,
and give me a heart of flesh,
a heart to love and adore You,
a heart to delight in You,
to follow and to enjoy You,
for Christ’s sake.
Amen

Benediction: St Patrick’s breastplate link

Christ with me, Christ before me,
Christ behind me, Christ within me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ at my right, Christ at my left,
Christ in the fort, [i.e., at home] Christ in the chariot seat, [i.e., travelling by land] Christ in the stern. [i.e., travelling by water]

Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks to me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
Amen

Colossians 1:21-23 NIV

Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.
But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical bodythrough death to present you holy in his sight,
without blemish and free from accusation—  if you continue in your faith,
established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel.
This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven,
and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

The Edelweiss Benediction link

May the Lord, mighty God,
bless, preserve you and keep you.
Give you peace, perfect peace,
courage in every endeavor.
Lift up your eyes and see His face,
and His grace forever.
May the Lord, mighty God,
bless, preserve you and keep you!
Amen

YES, it is soooooo very true!

Christ in us, not us, is the hope of glory.

Don’t let the bad news of the current evangelical network discourage us forever. It only shows that we are not to put our faith in men, or women, or leaders, or celebrities, or nobles…in general, human beings. Let Christ purify us, the church, His kingdom on earth…..

This is so good! I didn’t realize how much I had slowly drifted toward the gospel of me that permeates current popular worship. Getting back to Christ-centered preaching is the perfect antidote!

We sing the Edelweiss Benediction at church every Sunday
