Here is our Order of Worship

A Call to Worship link

God of Hope,
we come into your presence this morning
with confidence that you will meet us here.
Where there is sadness, bring joy;
Where there is tiredness, bring refreshment;
Where there is despair, bring a renewed sense of hope.
Let this place be a sanctuary,
a safe haven for us,
a home for holy words and songs and prayers
as we devote ourselves to you.
We pray this in Jesus’ name
Amen

The Nicene Creed: An Affirmation of Our Faith link (History)

I BELIEVE in one God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth, And of all things visible and invisible:

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God;
Begotten of his Father before all worlds,
God of God, Light of Light, Very God of very God; Begotten, not made;
Being of one substance with the Father; By whom all things were made:
Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven,
And was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, And was made man:
And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried:
And the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures: And ascended into heaven,
And sitteth on the right hand of the Father:
And he shall come again, with glory, to judge both the quick and the dead;
Whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost, The Lord, and Giver of Life,
Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son;
Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified;
Who spake by the Prophets:
And I believe one Catholic and Apostolic Church:
I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins:
And I look for the Resurrection of the dead: And the Life of the world to come.
Amen.

Scripture Reading: Matthew 25:40 (NASB Bible Gateway)

The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’

The Lord’s Prayer (traditional)

Taken from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer, 1662 link

Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
The power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen.

Benediction

The Lord bless you, and keep you;

The Lord make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;

The Lord lift up His countenance on you,

And give you peace.

Numbers 6:24-26 (NASB)

  1. Thanks, Pastor Wade Burleson and Emmanuel Enid, as well as Deb for this post.

    How appropriate and heart-warming that you share about your ministry in Enid to the Marshallese and your man you have sent to the Marshall Islands, Yohanes Arwakon.

    Lovely. Good to know God is doing great work in missions near and far.

    Also your encouragement to do what God has called us to do where we are, this also is appreciated and not lost on your audience.

    God bless.

  2. Lovely! Esp the Nicene Creed….as a long time Lutheran it speaks to my heart.

    Speaking of hearts, I would like prayer for the outcome of some tests I had this week….looking at a major case of pulmonary hypertension along with other co-mobidities..

    I need peace whatever the outcome is from these tests.

  3. JYJames,

    Thanks for your kind words. Glad to know to focus on missions and ministry in the cities where God has planted us is a theme you picked up on.

    Molly 245, I add my prayers regarding your tests, specifically that the Great Physician will guide the physicians to remedies for your hypertension.

    Deb, thanks for all your work. Rachelle and I have chosen Raleigh, North Carolina to celebrate our 35th Wedding Anniversary (to be close to our son and daughter-in-law whom we’ve not been able to see since they moved to Raleigh), so we’ll be in Wanda and Dee’s part of the USA August 9-12, 2018. Hope we can possibly catch a meal together. We’ll be in touch.
