A Prayer of Relinquishment by Richard Foster link

Today, O Lord, I yield myself to You.
May Your will be my delight today.
May You have perfect sway in me.
May your love be the pattern of my living.
I surrender to You my hopes, my dreams, my ambitions.
Do with them what You will, when You will, as You will.
I place into Your loving care my family, my friends, my future.
Care for them with a care that I can never give.
I release into Your hands my need to control, my craving for status, my fear of obscurity.
Eradicate the evil, purify the good, and establish Your Kingdom on earth.
For Jesus’ sake,
Amen.

A Prayer of Church Father Irenaeus (died 202 C.E.) asking for growth in grace link

“Give growing maturity to beginners, O Father;
give intelligence to the little ones;
give aid to those who are running their course.
Give sorrow to the negligent;
give fervor of spirit to the lukewarm.
Give to the mature a good end;
for the sake of Christ Jesus our Lord.
Amen.

Scripture Reading: Luke 12:1-7 (NASB Bible Gateway)

Under these circumstances, after so many thousands of people had gathered together that they were stepping on one another, He began saying to His disciples first of all, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known. Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed upon the housetops.

“I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that have no more that they can do. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear the One who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him! Are not five sparrows sold for two cents? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God.  Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.

A Prayer by Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556link

Steer the ship of my life, good Lord, to your quiet harbour
where I can be safe from the storms of sin and conflict.
Show me the course I should take.
Renew in me the gift of discernment, so that I can always see the right direction in which I should go.
And give me the strength and the courage to choose the right course,
even when the sea is rough and the waves are high,
knowing that through enduring hardship and danger
in your name we shall find comfort and peace.
Amen

Prayer of Benedict link

O gracious and holy Father,
give us wisdom to perceive you,
diligence to seek you,
patience to wait for you,
eyes to behold you,
a heart to meditate upon you,
and a life to proclaim you;
through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen

    You are so kind to ask for prayer for Tim’s father.

    Thank you, Deb.

    I always try to stay on top of our group’s prayer needs and other needs.
    It’s my little ministry.

  4. For those who may be reading here, we are also praying for Max who is having oral surgery tomorrow.  Here is what he posted earlier today.

    PRAYER REQUEST. Folks, I will be having oral surgery tomorrow morning. This is the first time during my long journey to be sedated and go under the knife (and I hope my last). As you retire for the evening or see this on Monday, I would appreciate your prayers.  I may be off-line for a few days. Please stay after those who use the church for their glory.

    Thanks! Your brother Max.

  5. Also some other prayer requests from the Open Discussion board:

    *Harley (in Texas). Severe pain. Upcoming foot surgery. Also for her son & his job.

    *Persephone (in Oregon). Respite care for her as one of her daughter’s has Lupus and she is the caregiver and her daughter has a restricted life from illness. For her as a mother coping with divorce and a lack of support in the Christian community. For provision – financial and emotional. For her other children who also have some challenges. Give this little family help and peace. And joy. And laughter.

    *Marquis and Billy (in Texas). Pray for this mother and son. They were terribly abused
    at their church after the son was a crime victim by a church member. Pray for financial provision and other provisions for them, food, gas, etc. She is behind on bills. The GoFundMe page is still open on the Open Discussion thread.

    *Jeannette Altes (in Colorado). Pray for work (she’s out of it), tumor (being treated),
    and finances. She has bills coming due. She has a need for food and gas. Her GoFundMe
    is also on the Open Discussion page.

    *NMGirl. Work. House. Money. Pets. Peace. She is facing multiple trials.

    *Christiane. On the mend/medical.

    *Ishy. Moving/living in trailer as house isn’t ready. A new job.

    *Prayers that I might have missed.

    Love you all.
