Here Is Our Order of Worship

Puritan Prayer of Thanksgiving link

O my God,
Thou fairest, greatest, first of all objects,
my heart admired, adores, loves thee,
for my little vessel is as full as it can be,
and I would pour out all that fullness before thee
in ceaseless flow.

When I think upon and converse with thee
ten thousand delightful thoughts spring up,
ten thousand sources of pleasure are unsealed,
ten thousand refreshing joys spread over my heart,
crowding into every moment of happiness.

I bless thee for the soul thou hast created,
for adorning it, sanctifying it,
though it is fixed in barren soil;
for the body thou hast given me,
for preserving its strength and vigour,
for providing senses to enjoy delights,
for the ease and freedom of my limbs,
for hands, eyes, ears that do thy bidding,
for thy royal bounty providing my daily support,
for a full table and overflowing cup,
for appetite, taste, sweetness,
for social joys of relatives and friends,
for ability to serve others,
for a heart that feels sorrows and necessities,
for a mind to care for my fellow-men,
for opportunities of spreading happiness around,
for loved ones in the joys of heaven,
for my own expectation of seeing thee clearly.

I love thee above the powers of language
to express,
for what thou art to thy creatures.

Increase my love, O my God, through time
and eternity.
Amen

Thanksgiving Prayer by -Samuel F. Pugh link

O God, when I have food,
help me to remember the hungry;
When I have work,
help me to remember the jobless;
When I have a home,
help me to remember those who have no home at all;
When I am without pain,
help me to remember those who suffer,
And remembering,
help me to destroy my complacency;
bestir my compassion,
and be concerned enough to help;
By word and deed,
those who cry out for what we take for granted.
Amen.

 "Prayers for God's People"link

O God of all Creation: You have cared for the earth, and have filled it with your riches.
Abundance flows in your steppes, through the pastures and wilderness.
You provide for our land, softening it with showers, bathing it in light, and blessing it with growth.
The hills sing with joy; the meadows are covered with flocks; the fields deck themselves with wheat;
and together they glorify your name!

On this occasion of our Thanksgiving, we as a nation take rest from our labors to consider your many blessings.
We thank you for our freedoms, and for the opportunity to contribute our skills, our attributes and our values toward the good of society.

We thank you for the mixture of our cultures, blending us into one people under God.
Help us to be a light unto other nations, and to further the cause of freedom and justice all over the world.

We remember those who are less fortunate than we.
We lift up in prayer the victims of poverty and racism,
and all those who suffer from forms of political and economic oppression.
Let the word that goes forth from our mouths speak of your peace,
and let us proclaim our hope in Christ as Savior of all humankind.

We pray that you will bless all those who gather here,
as we have come to experience your presence among us.
Give us your guidance, O God, and empower us for your work.
For we claim nothing for ourselves, but return all honor and glory unto you, and offer our thanks and praise.
Amen.

Benediction Prayer link

Give us this day our daily bread, O Father in heaven,
and grant that we who are filled with good things from Your open hand,
may never close our hearts to the hungry, the homeless, and the poor;
in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen

    As always thanks for the effort in posting the service.
    I enjoyed hearing about the Forgotten Sunday School, I just assumed it was going to be Sunday School like I have always known?
    No more snacks before church, and directing these efforts to the Forgotten Ministries Center and the kids that live in the New View Apartments. Kids that might be hungry, families that could use help.
    I’m praying!
    Your friend in FLA

    Hi, Dee and Deb. Perhaps this inspires you for a post:

    This is written by Rachael Slick, who is the daughter of a well known Christian apologist (also a defender of complementarianism and Calvinism) Matt Slick.

    “I’m Matt Slick’s eldest kid, Rachael Slick,… he’s insane, anti-woman, sexist, and only employs those who think like him. …
    I remember crying at night, asking God why he hadn’t let me be born a boy. Or speaking very negatively to other women and feeling disgust at anything feminine. Or trying my hardest to be as masculine as possible. Because women were weak and not to be treated with respect.
    This sort of stuff is very damaging …” – http://www.strivetoenter.com/wim/2012/02/24/stubble-straw-and-scarecrows-diane-sellner/#comment-14937

    (The comment is on a thread where another woman, an egal scholar, tells of her negative experiences with Slick.)

    It is easy to find, on the Internet, that Rachael Slick is now an atheist, and that her motives has to do with the view her father taught her of God.

    “… her negative experiences with Slick” : The egal scholar tells of her negative experiences with Matt, not Rachael.

    Thank you for this Wade. For all the ink that’s been slathered in print about the bad old days of Anglo Saxon civilization and the Christian religion, they also brought about great good. It should be celebrated. Am I a conservative Republican? No I am not. If anything, I’m an old school FDR style Socialist, but I believe in giving credit where credit is due. My brethren on the left would do well to recognize that the men you’ve mentioned here deserve a vote of confidence and that good is good no matter where it comes from.

    “A Case Of Mistaken Idenity, Perhaps?”

    hmmm…

    “Michael the Archangel, who has all the angels of heaven under him, and at his command, is the Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ; who is as God, as the name signifies, truly and really God, and equal in nature, power, and glory to his divine Father” (John Gill).

    “It is  undeniable that the archangel Michael is the only archangel of whom we know any thing from holy writ. It cannot be proved from holy writ,—and if not from holy writ, it cannot be proved at all,—that any archangel exists but the one archangel Michael; and this one archangel Michael is unquestionably the Michael of the book of Daniel. The Archangel, in 1 Thessalonians 4.16, whose voice is to raise the dead, can be no other than our Lord; and in the 9th verse of Jude, the Archangel is named Michael. Although not of “the nature of angels” (Hebrews 2:16), our Lord is their Commander, for authorities, and powers, are subject unto him (I Peter 3:22), and “thrones, dominions, principalities, powers, and all things, were created by him, and for him” (James Farquharson)

    “Michael, the Son of God and Savior of the world, has come. All religions are not the same. There is only one true religion and only one true God, and may an understanding of Daniel 11 and 12 cause you to never shrink away from boldly proclaiming the truth as it is in Jesus Christ, for ‘Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved’ (Acts 4:12).”

    Wade,

    hey,

    “There are three Archangels named in the Bible: Michael (the warrior Angel), Gabriel (the messenger Angel), and Lucifer (who became the devil).”

    “Michael the Archangel is mentioned in different passages” :

    Daniel 10:13, “But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was withstanding me for twenty-one days; then behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia.”

    Daniel 10:21, “However, I will tell you what is inscribed in the writing of truth. Yet there is no one who stands firmly with me against these forces except Michael your prince.”
    Daniel 12:1, “Now at that time Michael, the great prince who stands guard over the sons of your people, will arise. And there will be a time of distress such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time; and at that time your people, everyone who is found written in the book, will be rescued.”

    Jude 9, “But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.”

    Rev. 12:7, “And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. And the dragon and his angels waged war.”

    “Perhaps the best proof text to demonstrate that Michael the Archangel and Jesus are not the same person is found in Jude 9. The Lord Jesus would not have to call on the name of anyone else in order to rebuke the devil because the Lord Jesus is God in flesh. However, we see that Michael the Archangel said, “The Lord rebuke you,” thereby demonstrating that he is not the Lord.”
