God give me strength link

God give me strength
Lord give me Your strength
I feel weak and helpless right now
I'm not sure how much more I can take

God give me strength
Lord give me Your strength
For I'm running on empty right now
All my dials are at zero

Come shelter my mind in the storms
Where I'm confused flood me with light

Come shelter my heart in the storms
Where I'm weak come flood me with strength

Come lift up my spirit in the storms
Cause sadness to end and hope to rise

Cover me with Your love O Lord
Wash me in Your goodness O God

Cover me with Your love O Lord
Clean me out and help me start again

Kate McIlhagga The Complete Book of Christian Prayer, p.138

"God of the heights and the depths,
we bring to you
those driven into the desert
those suffering with difficult decisions.

May they choose life.
God of the light and the darkness,
we bring to you
those lost in the midst of drugs or drink,
those dazzled by the use of power.

May they choose life.
God of the wild beast and the ministering angel,
we bring to you
those savaged by others' greed,
those exhausted by caring for others.

May they feel your healing touch.
Christ tempted and triumphant,
we bring ourselves to you,
tired of difficult choices,
anxious about the future,
drained by the loss of a loved one.

May we feel your healing touch,
know God's presence in all things
and receive the crown of life
through the Holy Spirit of compassion."
In the name of Jesus

Scripture Reading:  Luke 8:26-36 (NASB Bible Gateway)

Then they sailed to the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.  And when He came out onto the land, He was met by a man from the city who was possessed with demons; and who had not put on any clothing for a long time, and was not living in a house, but in the tombs.  Seeing Jesus, he cried out and fell before Him, and said in a loud voice, “What business do we have with each other, Jesus, Son of the Most High God?  I beg You, do not torment me.”  For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had seized him many times; and he was bound with chains and shackles and kept under guard, and yet he would break his bonds and be driven by the demon into the desert.  And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion”; for many demons had entered him.  They were imploring Him not to command them to go away into the abyss.

Now there was a herd of many swine feeding there on the mountain; and the demons implored Him to permit them to enter the swine. And He gave them permission. And the demons came out of the man and entered the swine; and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.

When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they ran away and reported it in the city and out in the country.  The people went out to see what had happened; and they came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting down at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind; and they became frightened.  Those who had seen it reported to them how the man who was demon-possessed had been made well.

A Prayer to Surrender to God's Love link

Loving God,
You know me intimately:
my fears, my inability to trust You
my grasping for those things over which I have no control
my blindness to the reality of Your love and Your presence
my stubbornness in never trusting the experience of Your love that You continuously shower on me. I am a mess of contradictions:
I want to witness to You
while emotionally I am locked into overwhelming fear.

In Your time, in Your way, free me.

Let Your Presence fill my prison until its bars burst open
Let Your Love give wings to my desperate heart
Let Your Gentleness soothe my ego's frantic efforts to control Let Your Truth root my fluttering doubts
Let Your Light show my faltering feet the Way
Let Your Banquet nourish my weakness into Life
Let Your Faithfulness encompass and embrace me
until I am transformed from a being bound by Fear
into a Being transformed by Love.

 Benediction: Numbers 6:24-26 link

The Lord bless you, and keep you:
The Lord make his face shine upon you
and be gracious unto you:
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you,
and give you peace.

  2. I just spent a week with my family (including three days at Walt Disney World:)
My son and his husband were there I love them so much.
My younger sister a devout atheist I love her so much.
My older sister in bad health (drunk the whole time I think) I love her so much.

Thank You for posting the services each week.
    From a friend in FLA

  3. Matt Redmond's song 10,000 Reasons is so special to me. When our neighbor died 3 yrs ago this was his song. It was played at his funeral. It always speaks to me. When my mother-in-law was dying 4 weeks ago, my daughter Christy, heard this song the night before she died. God spoke to her heart and she knew that the first call I would make to her on the next day would be to tell her that her grandmother had died. It happened just that way. Thanks for posting it here. I am having foot surgery on Wednesday morning and this song will be in my mind.

  4. So grateful for all your comments! We are blessed to have Wade Burleson as our EChurch pastor. Praying for those of you who are hurting.

  5. My weeks are highlighted by the moment I get to read through this and hear Pastor Wade’s message.
    Seriously, thank you.
