Here Is Our Order of Worship

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
    hallowed be thy Name,
    thy kingdom come,
    thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
    for ever and ever.

Amen.

Online Book of Common Prayer for Guidance link

O God, by whom the meek are guided in judgment,
and light riseth up in darkness for the godly:
Grant us, in all our doubts and uncertainties,
the grace to ask what thou wouldest have us to do,
that the Spirit of wisdom may save us from all false choices,
and that in thy light we may see light,
and in thy straight path may not stumble;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
 Amen.

Scripture Reading:  Luke 8:22-25 (NASB Bible Gateway)

Now on one of those days Jesus and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they launched out. But as they were sailing along He fell asleep; and a fierce gale of wind descended on the lake, and they began to be swamped and to be in danger. They came to Jesus and woke Him up, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And He got up and rebuked the wind and the surging waves, and they stopped, and [a]it became calm. And He said to them, “Where is your faith?” They were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?”

Online Book of Common Prayer For the Poor and the Neglected link

Almighty and most merciful God,
we remember before you
all poor and neglected persons whom it would be easy for us to forget:
the homeless and the destitute, the old and the sick,
and all who have none to care for them.
Help us to heal those who are broken in body or spirit,
and to turn their sorrow into joy.
Grant this, Father, for the love of your Son,
who for our sake became poor,
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Benediction: Ephesians 3:20,21 link

Glory to God whose power, working in us,
can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine:
Glory to him from generation to generation in the Church,
and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever.
Amen.

  1. I don’t know how you always know exactly what I need to hear when I need to hear it, but it seems you do and I’m grateful to say the least….smile.

For the past 6 mos. or so, I’m in a storm that I’ve never been in before in all my years. And I can confirm the truth about Jesus being there in the midst of our storms. I can hardly believe the peace I feel as there is every reason why I shouldn’t. But I have given the storm to Jesus and told Him I can’t still it, and I trust Him to work it out or not. This peace in the middle of the storm is a first for me.

Thank you for your message. I’ve learned a great deal about faith from your messages as well as this current situation I find myself in.

P.S. I loved your analogy about life being like those “connect the dots” pictures where we go from one dot to the next in life.

  2. I posted this at SSB. Please, anyone who sees this, lift us up before the Father, for mercy and protection.

I’m sorry, I’ve not read anything yet, but I have an urgent prayer request.

Please pray for protection from my ex-husband. He’s a narcissist and abuser (not physical abuse for a long time), and he’s making legal threats. My kids refuse to see him, and because I was too exhausted and beaten down by life and dreadful legal representation, I didn’t push for him not to have legal visitation.

There’s so much more to the story. My kids are extremely vulnerable. They’re older, but in some ways that’s making things harder right now, because they’re more self-aware.

    Please, please pray in earnest.

  3. I am also in dire financial straits, am disabled, and have one disabled child. I wish I could say more about the kids, but I can’t risk my ex-husband finding anything I post.

  4. I have prayed for you Persephone and I am sure many others on this forum will too. Perhaps you could contact Deb or Dee and they may be able to collect some money for you.
