Let us join in the prayer of a brother from a distant time

"O Lord, who has mercy upon all,
take away from me my sins,
and mercifully kindle in me
the fire of your Holy Spirit.
Take away from me the heart of stone,
and give me a heart of flesh,
a heart to love and adore You,
a heart to delight in You,
to follow and enjoy You, for Christ's sake, Amen"

Prayer to the Holy Spirit Regarding Anxiety

"O Holy Spirit, give me stillness of soul in you.
Calm the turmoil within, with the gentleness of your peace.
Quiet the anxiety within, with a deep trust in you.
Heal the wounds of sin within, with the joy of your forgiveness.
Strengthen the faith within, with the awareness of your presence.
Confirm the hope within, with the knowledge of your strength.
Give fullness to the love within, with an outpouring of your love.
O Holy Spirit, be to me a source of light, strength and courage
so that I may hear your call ever more clearly
and follow you more generously."

Scripture Reading:  Hebrews 12:18-21 (NASB Bible Gateway)

For you have not come to a mountain that can be touched and to a blazing fire, and to darkness and gloom and whirlwind, and to the blast of a trumpet and the sound of words which sound was such that those who heard begged that no further word be spoken to them.  For they could not bear the command, “If even a beast touches the mountain, it will be stoned.” And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, “I am full of fear and trembling."

"God of the heights and the depths,
we bring to you
those driven into the desert
those suffering with difficult decisions.
May they choose life.
God of the light and the darkness,
we bring to you
those lost in the midst of drugs or drink,
those dazzled by the use of power.
May they choose life.
God of the wild beast and the ministering angel,
we bring to you
those savaged by others' greed,
those exhausted by caring for others.
May they feel your healing touch.
Christ tempted and triumphant,
we bring ourselves to you,
tired of difficult choices,
anxious about the future,
drained by the loss of a loved one.
May we feel your healing touch.
May we feel your healing touch,
know God's presence in all things
and receive the crown of life
through the Holy Spirit of compassion."
In the name of Jesus
Amen

Kate McIlhagga The Complete Book of Christian Prayer, p.138

Romans 15:5-6 (NIV) Benediction
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen!

  1. Thank you all once again for a wonderful church service!

Wade I couldn’t stop laughing at the “U.S. Federal Marshall” incident. 🙂

My question is why do believers who attend “Mount Sinai-type” churches stay? Also, I’ve heard you say several times that because our righteousness is in Christ alone, we cannot compare ourselves to others. But I regularly compare my good fortune to be living in this century as opposed to those living in the OT. I hope that’s an OK comparison.

Great question, Victorious! I have no idea. I wouldn’t.

Comparing good fortune is different than comparing personal righteousness! I, too, am grateful to live in New Agreement days.

    🙂

  3. I can’t wait until you all hear next week’s sermon. I know I’m jumping ahead. 🙂

  4. I just came from early service and it was so good. I thought of all of you during it. 🙂

  5. @ Debbie Kaufman:
I love being able to listen to Wade’s sermon live as soon as I arrive home from church. 🙂

Just heard his message, and it was very encouraging! Looking forward to sharing it next weekend.

  6. Thank you, Pastor Wade! I just listened to your wonderful, amazing sermon…I feel like it was a deep refreshing drink and I want to keep drinking! I don’t ever think I’ve heard the law explained that way….This will be listened to over and over…I will be sharing with my kids…I wish you were here in Baltimore, but thanks to Dee and Deb, I have Echurch! Oh, the blessed name of Jesus! What a Saviour!

  7. WOW, WADE. I AM OVER THE MOON ABOUT YOUR SERMON. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. WHAT LOVE GOD HAS FOR ME!!!! THANK YOU AGAIN, WADE. I am always touched when I hear your sermons. Truly God is speaking through you to me.

  8. Scooter's Mom and DebbyLynn,

So grateful that Wade's message meant so much to you. Thanks for letting him know.

    Blessings to you both!

  9. Thanks for the message Wade it is a great message that needs to be throughout the church today.
We tried to encourage a pastor to exercise a little more grace, love, and mercy but ended up having to leave the church. He is definitely at the wrong mountain, and it is tough to know that we have some good friends at the church who do not know what to do.
We do pray for them and are convinced it is all he knows how to preach as his dad is the same way.

  10. Hi Deb, Can’t tell you how much it’s meant to me….I’m telling everyone..EVERYONE about Wade….can’t wait until next week for the second part. Being in relationship with Christ means all the difference …yet I never felt that I was worthy enough to come…TWW has been such a blessing!
