Mahaney / SGM – Unprecedented Rescue by the SBC?

Mahaney We believe history is being made as high profile leaders in the Southern Baptist Convention MEDDLE in the affairs of another denomination, which self-identifies as a "family of churches". Yes, I'm talking about Sovereign Grace Ministries (SGM). In case you haven't heard, C.J. Mahaney, who was recently reinstated as President of SGM, is assisting with the appointment of his successor and laying the foundation to PLANT a new church in another state. As the saying goes, "bloom where you're planted", and the word on the street is that Mahaney is planning to relocate to Kentucky and set down roots there. There is also speculation that the offices of Sovereign Grace Ministries will be moved from Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland to Kentucky — most likely Louisville. D6 – Not Just a Conference but a Way of Life!

"D6 is more than a conference: it’s a biblical passage, a principle, a strategy, a way of life." (link) Taken by Deb Have you ever heard of a conference called D6? The conference planners must believe it is really AWESOME because they describe it as a WAY OF LIFE. It will take place next week in the Dallas metroplex. Perhaps you are wondering why this conference suddenly came onto our radar screen. I recently discovered that the producer of the video Divided (mentioned at the end of yesterday's post) has been "disinvited" to the D6 Conference. Wow! The only time I have ever heard of someone being "disinvited" to a conference was last May when Ken Ham was given the left boot of fellowship from a Christian homeschool conference. Just what is D6? The conference name centers around Deuteronomy 6:7 which, according to the D6 website, "tells us three things: Love God, treasure His Word, and teach this to the next generation. Together for the Gospel (T4G) 2012: Bigger and Better?

"Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely." – Lord Acton Together for the Gospel (T4G) 2012 is fast approaching, and the Fab Four are hoping for a record breaking crowd at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky. If you’re wondering why C.J. Mahaney bailed out of Covenant Life Church to attend Capitol Hill Baptist Church (CHBC), there is a strong possibility that it has everything to do with T4G. As C.J. Mahaney stated in his May 2008 message to the CHBC congregation, “And I must make at least one brief comment about Together for the Gospel. If you aren’t aware of this conference, it just took place a few weeks ago in Louisville, Kentucky. It was attended by over 5,500 primarily pastors were in attendance. This conference is really the fruit of your senior pastor’s leadership, you senior pastor’s friendship with a number of individuals.” Let’s stop right there. When Pastoral Care Means Taking Care of the Pastor

"There are pastors who won't go to people's sick beds. How can people of God turn their back on the sick, poor and hungry?" James Robinson Sunset over the Sahara-NASA On Monday, we will look at the 20/20 story on the IFB churches which dealt with sexual and child abuse. What has happened to the role of pastor? I think of the genial Methodist minister who lived up the street who occasionally visited our home, along with the homes of all of our neighbors, for coffee and cookies. He was often found at the local hospitals and nursing homes, visiting church members and even some locals who were not church attendees. He attended Little League games, cheering on the kids from his youth group. He attended school board meeting and gave the occasional prayer. Our Russian Orthodox priest always viited our home. He could be seen dancing the polka at the Polish festivals and kept a similar schedule to his Methodist counterpart. Both men were known, respected and genuinely liked by the community in Salem, Massachusetts. Soon after I became a Christian, I met another pastor who was cut from the same cloth. Then make yourself feel “spiritual” by pretending that you are on a mission trip and studying the “Bible” as presented by the finest of Bible teachers who will “train you up in the way you should go.” Let’s take a look at one recent cruise listing.
