We will not post again until next Wednesday, giving ourselves one day off to enjoy the season. I also apologize for my lack of participation in the discussions. I am about three weeks behind in my emails. We are doing some major renovations to our house. This coupled with our wonderful trip to visit with Wade Burleson in Enid, Oklahoma, some family obligations, visitors for Christmas, etc., have left me in over my head. Hopefully, I will catch up by next Wednesday. Thank you for bearing with me, and special thanks to Deb for picking up some of the slack. He Is… We were blessed to see the Christmas pageant at Emmanuel Baptist church in Enid. This is not one of those “bring in the professionals and charge money" type of pageants. Instead, it is fully directed and performed by the congregation of the church.

"God has landed on this enemy-occupied world in human form…” CS Lewis TWW will be taking a break until next Tuesday to celebrate, worship, wrap, bake, eat and visit. Merry Christmas y’all. Thank you for blessing our blog with your presence. 1. Let’s start with an amusing example of Christmas political correctness gone amuck. I heard the following story on the radio today while trying to get into the Honey Baked Ham parking lot to buy my Christmas ham. There is a group of kids at Battlefield High School known as the “Christmas Sweater Club” because they wear wild Christmas sweaters during December. They often spontaneously sing Christmas carols and look for ways to celebrate the season. One day, before school started, they decided to bring tiny 2-inch candy canes (the ones in the plastic wrappers that always break) and throw them to the students who were arriving at school. But, the “grownups” got involved. Some of the kids got in trouble and were given detention and forced to do community service for their display of merriness. Why, you may ask? You can read about it at this link. “They said Continue reading →

The people in darkness have seen a great light! Hallelujah! A message to ..well, you know who you are: Lay off the teenagers who were hurt-either by the pedophile or by living through the pain. Haven’t they been hurt enough? And you seek them out on a blog to continue demeaning them? Egads! Pick on someone your own age. And you wonder why kids leave the faith in college? And so it began one night in a cave meant to house animals. This was certainly a strange way to redeem mankind. A heavenly chorus of angels announced His coming but only a few shepherds actually heard it. God seems to be in the business of presenting opposites. Think about it. I heard a sermon years ago that pointed some out. Although I don’t remember it exactly, I will give you the picture. The immortal takes on mortality. The invulnerable becomes vulnerable. The Creator becomes the created. The invisible becomes visible. Spirit became flesh. The Owner of the sheep on a thousand hills was born in a cave used to house sheep. The Extraordinary became ordinary. The omnipotent set aside His power. The sinless would take on sin. The Lover would Continue reading →

Why lies He in such a mean estate, where ox and ass are feeding? NOTE: We will publish only Monday and Tuesday this week. Merry Christmas to all. When I first became a Christian, I went to a rather small church. It was in the Boston area and evangelical Christians were in rather short supply. There was Gordon College and Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary but they were tucked away in a small suburb and were easily overlooked in the hubbub of this strong hold of liberal thinking. The pastor of this small church, Howard Keeley, was a kind man with deep thoughts. He often had a couple of students from the seminary come to learn “how to be a pastor” from him. Howard always had time for this questioning teenager. In fact, he made it seem as if I were the most important person in the church. Later, I would come to realize that he made everyone feel that way. It was a small church building, rather utilitarian yet it also seemed like God Himself dwelled in this simple structure. There were the requisite Bean Suppers (after all this was Boston), small Bible studies, and simple services with music Continue reading →
