I am sorry. We have encountered a major snafu with our kitchen renovation and we have to make some unexpected decisions pronto. I hate this stuff.

  1. I understand the mess and messiness of renovations, Dee…my thoughts and prayers are with you. One way or another, the unexpected always seems to crop up….

And not to take away from your roller-coaster ride of unexpected circumstances, I just wanted to add the comment that the picture you chose of the Autumn Leaves is pretty.

  2. I know exactly where you’re coming from.
Mrs. Muff and me just had one bathroom remodeled with a new shower enclosure.
SNAFU (situation normal, all f____ed up).

  3. Why don’t you check with Thomas White or Jerry Junior to see if any of those who reportedly have been so helpful to renovations in their necks of the woods have a free hand? As far as decisions, maybe watching a house tour video will help:

Don’t even consider skipping on a dog washing station

  4. Muff Potter,

It always happens. They pulled out the ceiling in a pantry and had to call a structural engineer because of some hinkey support structure. There were 4 people in this house before us.

  5. Dee, take more time off if you have to. Perhaps you can see if Todd is available to pinch-hit for you tomorrow. Sadly, there’s no shortage of material for him to work with.

We had a water leak that had soaked the wood of some support members next to the old shower stall, so we had to let it dry out. Later, and fortunately, the City inspector (structural engineer), said we were good to go for the new unit.

  7. Prayers for ya’ll, Dee! Two builds, several renos in our frequent transfers. Good that you caught this now, though. One house we were shown literally tipped when the agent and I went to a corner of an upstairs bedroom. We hurried back downstairs, where my pale hubby was coming up the stairs. Seems in putting in ductwork someone had cut the joists and supports on the entire victorian structure! We left in a hurry!

This too shall pass, and the house will be safer and stronger for it!
