PRAYER AT RISING: The Carmina Gadelica: Celtic Oral Prayers

(From Catherine Maclean, crofter, Naast, Gairloch)

Bless to me, O God,
Each thing mine eye sees;
Bless to me, O God,
Each sound mine ear hears;
Bless to me, O God,
Each odour that goes to my nostrils
Bless to me, O God,
Each taste that goes to my lips;
Each note that goes to my song,
Each ray that guides my way,
Each thing that I pursue.
Each lure that tempts my will,
The zeal that seeks my living soul.
The Three that seek my heart,
The zeal that seeks my living soul,
The Three that seek my heart.
Amen

GOD’S AID: Carmine Gadelica

God to enfold me,
God to surround me,
God in my speaking,
God in my thinking.

God in my sleeping,
God in my waking,
God in my watching,
God in my hoping.

God in my life,
God in my lips,
God in my soul,
God in my heart.

God in my sufficing,
God in my slumber,
God in mine ever-living soul,
God in mine eternity.
Amen

1 Peter 5:19 (NIV)

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

Ephesians 4:1 (NIV)

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling (grace) you have received.

Benediction

May the love of the Father,
the tenderness of the Son,
and the presence of the Spirit,
gladden your heart
and bring peace to your soul,
this day and all day
Amen.

  1. Thank you for preaching a message that pointed me to Christ, as my undeserved Saviour who leads by example and offers mr grace upon grace. I’m looking forward to more sermons

  2. Thats sort of strange, I always loved to serve for Jesus, help in Jesus’ name (even though it was almost constantly told I was doing that for attention, manipulation, lying, deceiving), I’m a wolf, etc). As for wanting to “hang around” with Jesus. I am usually “content” that He has not slaughtered me where I stand/sit/or sleep and that is on a good day. I left the evangelical faith thinking and still thinking at times, that I make Jesus sick.
