Here is our Order of Worship

Morning Prayer link

Gracious God,
Thank you for the gift of today.
Refresh me. Invite me to discover your presence
In each person that I meet
And every event that I encounter.
Teach me when to speak and when to listen
When to ponder and when to share.
In moments of challenge and decision
Attune my heart to the whisperings of your Wisdom.
As I undertake ordinary and unnoticed tasks,
Gift me with simple joy.
When my day goes well, may I rejoice.
When it grows difficult, surprise me with
New possibilities.
When life is overwhelming, call me to
Sabbath moments
To restore your Peace and Harmony.
May my living today reveal your Goodness.
Amen.

A Prayer by William Barclay link
1907-1978 link

O God, you are our refuge
When we are exhausted by life’s efforts;
When we are bewildered by life’s problems;
When we are wounded by life’s sorrows:
We come for refuge to you.
O God, you are our strength.

When our tasks are beyond our powers;
When our temptations are too strong for us;
When duty calls for more than we have to give to it:
We come for strength to you.

O God, it is from you that all goodness comes
It is from you that our ideals come;
It is from you that there comes to us the spur of high desire and the restraint of conscience.
It is from you that there has come the strength to resist any temptation, and to do any good thing.

And now as we pray to you,
Help us to believe in your love,
so that we may be certain
that you will hear our prayer;

Help us to believe in your power,
so that we may be certain
that you are able to do for us
above all that we ask or think;

Help us to believe in your wisdom,
so that we may be certain
that you will answer,
not as our ignorance asks,
but as your perfect wisdom knows best.

All this we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

This week we are featuring a message by Abraham Wright, who filled in for Wade during the final two services last Sunday. Here is what Wade shared on Sunday evening via Facebook.

We had an amazing 8:00 am service at Emmanuel Enid this am. Just before our second service (Bridge), I was greeting my friend Richard Gray and slapped him on the back. In that motion, I anteriorly dislocated my right shoulder (the fifth time for this previously surgically repaired shoulder). Ouch! The bone completely came out of it’s joint socket, pressing on my nerve and artery, slowing blood flow and numbing my arm. My arm went white. Excruciating pain. We couldn’t get it back in place in my office (too much muscle tension) so my lovely wife took me to the ER where they put me under. After a while, two ER docs got my bone back in its socket. Deepest apologies to the 9:00 am and 11:15 services. I know Abraham Wright did an amazing job filling in with only five minutes notice! Dr. Keller told my wife “no more high-five back slapping motions. High and hard dislocates. Wade should only move in a low and slow motion, like the motion of patting someone on the butt.“ My wife informed the doctor that Pastor Wade will be only giving fist bumps from this point forward.

Please pray that Wade is now free from pain and that this problem with his shoulder can be fixed.

The Nicene Creed: An Affirmation of Our Faith link (History)

I BELIEVE in one God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth, And of all things visible and invisible:

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God;
Begotten of his Father before all worlds,
God of God, Light of Light, Very God of very God; Begotten, not made;
Being of one substance with the Father; By whom all things were made:
Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven,
And was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, And was made man:
And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried:
And the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures: And ascended into heaven,
And sitteth on the right hand of the Father:
And he shall come again, with glory, to judge both the quick and the dead;
Whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost, The Lord, and Giver of Life,
Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son;
Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified;
Who spake by the Prophets:
And I believe one Catholic and Apostolic Church:
I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins:
And I look for the Resurrection of the dead: And the Life of the world to come.
Amen.

Benediction link

Go, and know the Lord goes with you.
Let him lead you each day into the quiet place of your heart,
where he will speak to you.
Know that he blesses and watches over you
– that he listens to you in gentle understanding –
that he is with you always, wherever you are and however you may feel.
Amen.
