Here is our Order of Worship

Please keep those in Houston and the surrounding areas devastated by Hurricane Havey in your prayers.

A Prayer for Labor Day link

O God, creator of the world,
of sun and moon and stars,
you chose to fashion us, your own,
your handiwork of love.

Indeed, we are your hands’ own work
and yet into our hands
you give the care
of every living thing.

In more ways than we can count
our work builds up
or tears apart what came
from your own hand.

Keep us faithful in preserving
all you’ve given
lest we harm the smallest part
of all you’ve made.

Give us good and honest work to do
and rest at each day’s end.
Give a fair and good day’s wage
for a good day’s work well done.

Give us work that nurtures and sustains
the ones who serve and those they serve.
Let those who labor work in peace,
in freedom without fear.

Give those in need a job to do
and to the tired well earned rest.
Let all our work and toil, Lord,
give glory to your name.
Amen.

A prayer of Dietrich Bonhoeffer link

O God, early in the morning I cry to you.
Help me to pray
And to concentrate my thoughts on you:
I cannot do this alone.
In me there is darkness,
But with you there is light;
I am lonely, but you do not leave me;
I am feeble in heart, but with you there is help;
I am restless, but with you there is peace.
In me there is bitterness, but with you there is patience;
I do not understand your ways,
But you know the way for me…
Restore me to liberty,
And enable me to live now
That I may answer before you and before me.
Lord, whatever this day may bring,
Your name be praised.
Amen

Wade and Rachelle Burleson are doing a five week series called When Relationships Crumble. Today we feature Part 4 – Where to Turn When Emotions Take Over

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
The power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen.

Matthew 6:9-13 link

Lutheran Benediction link

Lord God,
you have called your servants
to ventures of which we cannot see the ending,
by paths as yet untrodden,
through perils unknown.
Give us faith to go out with good courage,
not knowing where we go,
but only that your hand is leading us
and your love supporting us;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

  1. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to those who have donated in anyway to the Hurricane Harvey relief operations. We checked with some of our friends that live in the Houston area, and they are fine. But many more aren’t. This changes your life totally. I still think of life before Hurricane Ike, and life afterwards. Houston will think this too. It will take years to rebuild the city. So many of the places I would go to aren’t there anymore. I am so thankful that God has blessed the life of my family and untold ways since the 9 yrs of Hurricane Ike. We live about 4 hrs north of Houston and haven’t been impacted by Hurricane Harvey at all. But it is still hard for me to watch the news, as it brings back so many memories. Please keep praying for Houston and uplifting the people in prayer. Many times I felt like I was surviving on prayer alone. I knew that my family and friends were constantly going to God and praying for us. These people need that too. God Bless.

  2. If I may ask for prayer, I am having major trouble with my back, though it is getting better. They are getting ready to sell the mobile home park I live in, though I own the mobile home I do not own the land, I took a job that did not pay as much as needed, which is a sin but that is another request. Trying to live here where the rents are 5 – 12 k per month in some places means I will have to move. Which I would not mind but due to my medical issues that are somewhat limited.
