Here Is Our Order of Worship

A Prayer of Ambrose (c 339-97) link

O Lord, who hast mercy upon all, take away from me my sins,
and mercifully kindle in me the fire of thy Holy Spirit.
Take away from me the heart of stone,
and give me a heart of flesh,
a heart to love and adore thee,
a heart to delight in thee,
to follow and to enjoy thee,
for Christ’s sake.
In Jesus name,
Amen

A Prayer of Dietrich Bonhoeffer Link

O God, early in the morning I cry to you.
Help me to pray
And to concentrate my thoughts on you:
I cannot do this alone.
In me there is darkness,
But with you there is light;
I am lonely, but you do not leave me;
I am feeble in heart, but with you there is help;
I am restless, but with you there is peace.
In me there is bitterness, but with you there is patience;
I do not understand your ways,
But you know the way for me…
Restore me to liberty,
And enable me to live now
That I may answer before you and before me.
Lord, whatever this day may bring,
Your name be praised.
Amen

Scripture Reading:  Luke 14:16-24 (NASB Bible Gateway)

Parable of the Dinner

But He said to him, “A man was giving a big dinner, and he invited many; and at the dinner hour he sent his slave to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come; for everything is ready now.’ But they all alike began to make excuses. The first one said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of land and I need to go out and look at it; please consider me excused.’ Another one said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out; please consider me excused.’ Another one said, ‘I have married a wife, and for that reason I cannot come.’ And the slave came back and reported this to his master. Then the head of the household became angry and said to his slave, ‘Go out at once into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in here the poor and crippled and blind and lame.’ And the slave said, ‘Master, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.’ And the master said to the slave, ‘Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled. For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste of my dinner.’”

Prayer of St. Benedict link

O gracious and holy Father,
give us wisdom to perceive you,
diligence to seek you,
patience to wait for you,
eyes to behold you,
a heart to meditate upon you,
and a life to proclaim you;
through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen

Benediction

The Lord bless you, and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance on you,
And give you peace.

Numbers 6:24-26

  1. Praises:

    *Shuana and her son Billy in Texas got a new (used) washing machine. They had been without one for several months. An answer to prayer for them.

    *Jeannette Altes’ mid-monthly financial needs were met.

  2. Prayer request: for Wartburger Nick Bulbeck in Scotland…where is Nick? Is he ok? His family?

    We miss him commenting here. If someone has his email maybe they could check in with him and ask.

    Re: Nick, Daisy – Velour, thanks for keeping track. Very loving and Christ-like. You are really on it!

    Thanks!

  5. Hi All,

    Just a note that I saw Daisy comment on another blog. I said I was praying for her and we missed her here.

    She said she is going through a hard time and she is a private person so she doesn’t share her personal business. She said she would appreciate prayer.

    Thank you.

    Velour

  6. @ Velour:
    am worried …. not like Nick to vanish ….. is there no way to find out if he is okay?

    whatever is the matter, if anything, he might be glad to know we are concerned for him

    I am hoping that Dee or Deb has Nick’s email address and can send him an email and ask.
    You’re right. It’s not like him to vanish.

    I did some online searches for Scotland but I couldn’t find anything about him.
