Here is our Order of Worship

A Prayer for the Morning link

In my waking and arising
be the first thought that enters my head
In my eating and drinking
be the first thought that enters my head
In my walking and journeying
be the first thought that enters my head
In my working and serving
be the first thought that enters my head
In my sowing and harvesting
be the first thought that enters my head
In my rejoicing and sorrowing
be the first thought that enters my head
In my resting and sleeping
be the first thought that enters my head
Amen

A Prayer of Augustine link

Breathe into me, Holy Spirit,
that my thoughts may all be holy.

Move in me, Holy Spirit,
that my work, too, may be holy.

Attract my heart, Holy Spirit,
that I may love only what is holy.

Strengthen me, Holy Spirit,
that I may defend all that is holy.

Protect me, Holy Spirit,
that I may always be holy.
Amen

Scripture Reading:  Luke 11:9-13 (NASB Bible Gateway)

“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened. 11 Now suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he? Or if he is asked for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”

A "Going Out Into the World" Prayer link

This is your world I step upon
the air I breathe
the food I eat
This is your world I step upon
the sounds I hear
the people I meet
This is your world I step upon
your footsteps
where I place my feet
Help me to remember
Amen

  1. Thank you so much Wade, for what you said about your church members participating in a marathon on a Sunday. So many people forget that you can worship God wherever you are, and especially outside in God’s nature. One of my favorite places in Texas, is the Dallas Arboreteum in Dallas, Texas. There is a beautiful place there called the Fern Grotto. If you go right when they open up, and go to see the ferns, the mists are all around, and I feel as if I’m in the most glorious Cathedral there ever was made. Many times I have spent communing one on one with God in this garden. Or on the mountain tops as we travel.

When I was a young girl we would travel about 3 hrs on a Friday night to see my great grandmothers, and my grandparents went with us sometimes or on their own. They often left early on Sunday morning to get back to church. It was just so important not to miss a Sunday. Most of the time we stayed visiting with the grandmothers. My own grandmother regrets that she didn’t spend those Sunday mornings with the grandmothers. Because spending time with them was “church”. As you stated, wherever you are is church.
