A Prayer of Augustine of Hippo (@354-430) link

O Lord my God, I believe in you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Insofar as I can, insofar as you have given me the power,
I have sought you. I became weary and I labored.
O Lord my God, my sole hope, help me to believe and never to cease seeking you.
Grant that I may always and ardently seek out your countenance.
Give me the strength to seek you, for you help me to find you
and you have more and more given me the hope of finding you.
Here I am before you with my firmness and my infirmity.
Preserve the first and heal the second. Here I am before you with my strength and my ignorance.
Where you have opened the door to me, welcome me at the entrance;
where you have closed the door to me, open to my cry;
enable me to remember you, to understand you, and to love you.
Amen.

Prayer of Benedict of Nursia (c. 480–547) link

O gracious and holy Father,
give us wisdom to perceive you,
diligence to seek you,
patience to wait for you,
eyes to behold you,
a heart to meditate upon you,
and a life to proclaim you;
through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen

Scripture Reading:  1 Peter 2:9-10 (Bible Gateway)

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession,
so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God;
you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

A Prayer for Depression link

Lord, in every need let me come to You with humble trust saying, "Jesus, help me."
In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations, Jesus, help me.
In hours of loneliness, weariness, and trials, Jesus, help me.
In the failure of my plans and hopes; in disappointments, troubles, and sorrows, Jesus, help me.
When others fail me and Your grace alone can assist me, Jesus help me.
When I throw myself on Your tender love as a father and savior, Jesus, help me.
When my heart is cast down by failure at seeing no good come from my efforts, Jesus, help me.
When I feel impatient and my cross irritates me, Jesus, help me.
When I am ill and my head and hands cannot work and I am lonely, Jesus, help me.
Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls, and shortcomings of every kind, Jesus, help me and never forsake me.
Amen.

Concluding Prayer from Ireland -Anglican link

May we live by faith,
walk in hope and be renewed in love,
until the world reflects your glory
and you are all in all.
Even so, come Lord Jesus.
Amen.

  1. My simple offer to the community, God meets us where we are at. God reaches us at where we are at. If one looks at the gospels God reaches each of us in our local observations of reality. Basically God is our Father and God touches us, each of us where we are at daily. God is holy and that is our hope in this broken world where the holy is often clouded by the apologetic and in the political / social rhetoric. We are in communion with our Father, He wants us all to come home.

    I find this good news, God is the God of restoration, I E I hope to be in heaven right next to Mark Driscoll and Tony Jones, I hope all souls are welcomed home. I actually pray all this stuff is sorted out in some miraculous way and all involved in all these issues are restored. I actually pray, no, on my face with many loud bouts that Alex and his step father are restored for the glory of God and for Alex’s healing, his step father not so much but for Alex because he is a friend of mine. I am strange that way.

    I just wish to see people healed and restored. Offered for what healing it can give. One reality I am left with, in all things and in all ways God is good, sometimes it is not so easy to see that truth.
