Go Fund Me Account Set Up For Julie McMahon

Screen Shot 2015-01-22 at 4.39.49 PM

Dee was contacted by Julie Anne Smith regarding a reader who wanted to contribute money for Julie to use to meet her needs. We set up a Go Fund Me Account to benefit Julie and her children. My name is on the account and I can assure you that every last dime will go directly to Julie except for the 5% and 2 1/2% charge that is taken by Go Fund Me. I will also let you know when I deliver the money to Julie and the amount given. Since the contributions are public, you will be able to hold me accountable for doing what I have said I would do.

I set up the account in a hurry today and put the goal of being $1000. As of 4:30 PM EST, the fund has received contributions of $2,195. I was floored. One of our dear readers made a particularly high contribution.

Here is a direct link to the fund. Please continue to pray for Julie during this time.

  1. Wow! Awesome so awesome! Mom!!!! (Both Deebs and Julie Anne) so proud of you for doing this. Love the priorities, love the thinking! So proud of you guys for doing this! 🙂

  2. $2000 will show again in 4 days. It is one of those bank to another account errors. I have been in touch with the donor. She is a wonderful, incredible person and will make sure it gets taken care of.

  3. Thanks, Dee, for setting this up. Dee’s right – the $2,000 that is no longer showing up is a glitch. It will show up. I also got an e-mail from the donor letting me know.

What I love about this is that caring strangers who feel so moved can give real $$ to meet real needs. We’re not just imaginary people behind these screens, are we?

  4. I don’t even know what to say. Thank you so much doesn’t cut it. Thank you for carrying my story with me. Most days it’s too heavy. The Holy Spirit is my guide, and I have given over my story in hopes good can come out of it.

Well, it didn’t sound like your voice had done the “change” yet when I spoke with you. Maybe soon?! 🙂

But don’t worry, your 16-yr boy secret is safe with me.

  7. Almost 1/2 way to the goal in one day. But we can do better than that, right?

    Around here $10 =

    About three large coffees

2 McStupids (This is what I call them when I eat them for breakfast…)

A copy of the latest lousy book from your least favorite xian author

    A pizza

If half of the followers of this blog gave just $10, Julie could be blessed by over $4500!

Come on people! We can do it! 🙂

  8. @Julie,

I gave last night to the fund. I am sorry that in your greatest time of need that the church did not step up to the plate and protect you and confront your ex-husband. He is not pastor material or leadership material in the church.

I just came out of a spiritually abusive church so I feel your pain!

    Blessings from Northern California.

Doug, I love your vision! I cannot donate on the site here, which got me wondering if others are having the same issue. If the link here isn’t working for others, you can do directly to GoFundMe site, put in Dee Parsons name, scroll down till you find Julie petition.

    @Gail,
Yes, I had that problem with donating to the GoFundMe site for Julie until I realized that the photo was a screenshot of the fundraiser and that I had to go down to the link that was posted with the article. Then it worked fine.

  11. @Julie
Praying for you and wonderful WW women and supporters, here in UK on a grey London morning. You are not alone.

  12. @ London Lass:
Thank you. I was able to contact my lawyer last Friday and she is filing the Contempt of Court Motion and asking for emergency relief to get my son back. He took my son 9 days ago in retaliation to the story going public and viral. I cannot thank you all enough. Thank you! My son and I are very close and in these past 9 days he went from loving son to saying he hates me. His Father is playing the victim and is successfully (and temporarily) alienating him. I need him back and we need to get in therapy ASAP to gets things back to normal. Thank you.

  13. Julie, I pray especially for your son at this time. I just hate it TJ is using him as a bargaining chip in this.
