Here is our Order of Worship

Advent Prayer for Hope link

Lord Jesus Christ,
who is, who was, and who is to come,
we pray for the virtue of hope,
that amidst the trials and difficulties
of this world,
we may keep our hearts fixed
upon you, who reigns over the cosmos.
May your grace enliven us,
strengthen us,
and defend us,
as we await your coming in glory.
Amen

Advent Prayer for Forgiveness link

Father,
We contemplate the birth of your Son.
He was born of the Virgin Mary
and came to live among us.
May we receive forgiveness and mercy
Through Our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen

Nativity Prayer of St. Augustine link

Let the just rejoice,
for their justifier is born.
Let the sick and infirm rejoice,
For their saviour is born.
Let the captives rejoice,
For their Redeemer is born.
Let slaves rejoice,
for their Master is born.
Let free men rejoice,
For their Liberator is born.
Let All Christians rejoice,
For Jesus Christ is born.
Amen

Luke 6:12-19 (NASB Bible Gateway)

It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray,
and He spent the whole night in prayer to God.
And when day came, He called His disciples to Him and chose twelve of them,
whom He also named as apostles:
Simon, whom He also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; and James and John;
and Philip and Bartholomew; and Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus,
and Simon who was called the Zealot;
Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
 Jesus came down with them and stood on a level place;
and there was a large crowd of His disciples,
and a great throng of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon,
who had come to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases;
and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were being cured.
And all the people were trying to touch Him, for power was coming from Him and healing them all.

Anglican Advent Collect link

O God, who wonderfully created,
and yet more wonderfully restored,
the dignity of human nature:
Grant that we may share
the divine life of him who humbled himself to share our humanity,
your Son Jesus Christ;
who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Evening Prayer for Advent link

Lord God
we praise you for creating man,
and still more for restoring him in Christ.
Your Son shared our weakness:
may we share his glory,
for he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God
for ever and ever.
Amen.

  1. Thank you Wade. I have been going through a very, very difficult time. I have given up on finding joy. Just peace is all I want now. Your message has made me think and given me a desire to know God's love once more. I read The Message from time to time. I find it easier to read than NIV or NASB.

  2. Scooter’s Mom,

    Just finished breathing a prayer that the immeasurable and infinite love of God for you might be discovered in fresh, meaningful ways. I’m asking God to surprise you in tangible and profound ways in the revelation of His love.

    Merry Christmas.

    Wade

  3. Well, we have a very long, long way to go to find God’s people on a “level place.” Our churches are way too male and way too white so when I find some blacks and women afforded the opportunity to “shepherd,” I’ll know some have stepped down off the mountain to the “level place” as Jesus did.

    Thanks for the beautiful songs and prayers, Deb and Dee. I’m especially fond of the Pentatonixs!

    Scooters mom, I’m saying a prayer for you this evening.

    Merry Christmas to all at TWW! I’ve been so blessed by all of you!

  4. Thank you all for your prayers. Knowing that you are praying for me is a blessing in itself.
    I am so sorry it takes me so long to blog back. I do not have a computer at home and so I have to wait until I get to work.

    thank you all again.
