Memorial Day Prayer (link)

On this Memorial Day, I am thankful for the sacrifice so many throughout our history have made, for the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice and for their families who had to carry on without them.

It is a sacrifice that is easy to forget. For those who have it, freedom is like oxygen. It’s something we just have. Many will not understand just how precious either is until they are at risk of being taken away. There are encroachments being made on our freedoms right now by those who think they know better. This is a conversation for another time.

Today I remember a sacrifice made and a debt I cannot repay. Today I pray for the God of heaven to bless the families of those who have lost loved ones while serving our great nation. I pray for Him to bless and comfort the walking wounded who are still with us, and bless their families as well.

It is also my prayer that we remember their sacrifice and the precious gift of freedom every day, not just once a year or when they are in danger of being taken away.

"Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light."

Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)

Scripture Reading:  Luke 2:31-32 (NASB Bible Gateway)

Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
A LIGHT OF REVELATION TO THE GENTILES,
And the glory of Your people Israel.

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline."
2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)

Dear Lord,

My fear has trapped and consumed me. But I am tired of living under the weight of my fears. These verses reassure me of your presence and confirm that you are able to deliver me from my trouble. Please give me your love and your power to replace these fears. Your perfect love casts out my fear. I thank you for promising to give me the peace that only you can give. I receive that peace now as I ask you to still my troubled heart. Because you are with me, I don't have to be afraid.

Amen (link)

The Lord bless you, and keep you;

The Lord make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;

The Lord lift up His countenance on you,

And give you peace.

Numbers 6:24-26 (NASB)

  1. Thank you for encouragement this morning. God wins. Good to know His agenda is salvation. Haven’t heard the sermon yet, but awesome to worship a God who is not subject to our agendas or ministries. Where He leads, we can follow fearless. Hurting today for victims of sex abuse, and struggling with pressures of military life. Encouraged God sees the least of us and understands.

  2. Sherry and I really appreciate the work you do in putting your unique touch in providing a e-church service to those who may be in “church transition” or otherwise hurting. This is the first time for us. God bless you.

  3. @ Michael and Sherry:

    Thank you for your kind words. Since you are new to EChurch, you might be interested in our extensive archive that spans well over two years.  At the top of the right column you will see "Categories".  Just click on it and scroll down to EChurch@Wartburg where the posts are listed according to date.

    We usually include four songs, several prayers, and Wade Burleson's sermon (which lasts 35 minutes or less). We never tire of hearing his wonderful messages.

    Our EChurch post always goes up on Saturday afternoon.  Wade started preaching through the book of Luke on January 12, 2014.  That might be a good starting point as you have time to watch.

    Blessings!

  4. Excellent sermon by Wade Burleson. May God continue to bless the work he and his church are doing.
