Here is our order of worship

Our Father
Move our hearts with the calm, smooth flow of your grace.
Let the river of your love run through our souls.
May my soul be carried with the current of your love,
towards the wide, infinite ocean of heaven.
Stretch out my heart with your strength, as you stretch out the sky above the earth.
Smooth out any wrinkles of hatred or resentment.
Enlarge my soul that it may know more fully your truth.
Amen

Oh Come, Emmanuel! He has come and He will yet come. This song celebrates both.

Scripture Reading:  II Thessalonians 3:5 (NASB Bible Gateway)
May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ.

A wonderful prayer by Angela of Foligno (1248-1309)
The Complete Book of Christian Prayer. p.35
O Lord Jesus Christ
Make me worthy to understand the profound mystery of your holy incarnation,
which you have worked for our sake and for our salvation.
Truly there is nothing so great and wonderful as this,
that you, my God, who are creator of all things,
should become a creature, so that we should become like God.
You have humbled yourself and made yourself small that we might be made mighty.
You have taken the form of a servant, so that you might confer upon us a royal and divine beauty.
You, who are beyond our understanding, have made yourself understandable to us in Jesus Christ.
You, who are the uncreated God, have made yourself a creature for us.
You, who are the untouchable One, have made yourself touchable to us.
You, who are most high, make us capable of understanding your amazing love
and the wonderful things you have done for us.
Make us able to understand the mystery of your incarnation,
the mystery of your life, example and doctrine,
the mystery of your cross and Passion,
the mystery of your resurrection and ascension.
Blessed are you, O Lord, for coming to earth as a man.
You were born that you might die. and in dying that you might procure our salvation.
O marvellous and indescribable love!
In you is all sweetness and joy!
To contemplate your love is to exalt the soul above the world and to enable it to abide alone in joy
and rest and tranquility.
Amen

This version of We 3 Kings is sung by the incomparable Mario Lanza. The three kings (or wise men) are said to have arrived to worship Jesus more than one year after his birth. Read more here.

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen. (KJV)

A Christmas Benediction by Ray Pritchard
"May you be filled with the wonder of Mary, the obedience of Joseph, the joy of the angels, the eagerness of the shepherds, the determination of the magi, and the peace of the Christ child. Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit bless you now and forever."link

  1. Deb & Dee, I like the version of “We Three Kings” that you found, especially as it includes all of the song’s stanzas.

  2. The ChristianAnswers.net page is speculating and probably wrong at the bottom when it says that Jesus was not genetically related to Mary.

  3. Nicholas

I linked to the page to discuss the three wise men. But, as for genetics, none of us will know until heaven, if even then.

  4. The teaching video stops loading after a couple of minutes for me, will try again later…

It just kills me, how such a healing and liberating message about God and about our very identities (that both genders equally image God) is trampled on and thrown in the trash by some who insist on upholding their disturbing fantasy of male supremacy and female inferiority and oppression, at all costs.

As another Piper fanboy calls me a heretic on YouTube, all I can wonder is, why such mystifying insecurity? Why do I sense so much fear? Why are women hated so much?!

  5. This teaching has been taught in the Conservative/Fundamentalist circles for years. It has been passed down to other generations. The sad thing is that instead of reading scripture and studying for themselves, most accept this teaching as Biblical because the source of the teaching is looked at as infallible, and so it is sincerely believed and lived and passed down to the next generation.

It’s interesting that society that is so looked down on by many Christians are the ones who saw, taught, and stopped slavery as well as women being oppressed. It may not have always been done in the best way, but they did something. Meanwhile many Christians just kept on turning their heads and saying “But the Bible says” without even looking to see if that was really what the Bible says.

  6. I really love the Chris Tomlin song. It is a beautiful song and I cried when it showed the picture of Jesus holding the little girl and she has her head on His shoulder.

Thank you for explaining the Laodecia “luke-warm” scripture. I honestly have heard one pastor say that God would “spit you out” if you were luke warm…meaning you could lose your salvation. Your explanation of it helped because I am in a “mediocre” season and trying and trying to reach out and follow Him the best I can but, it’s been really hard at times. So, fear of rejection can sneak up on me.

And, I want to say, thank you for eChurch. I have successfully made it to church two weeks in a row. A miracle for me. I haven’t been to any church in over a year and this seems like a really good and safe step.
    God bless,
    Tammy

There is nothing the Devil hates more than women & Jews. The seed of the woman was promised from the beginning to destroy the works of the Devil. And the seed (least damaged ovum) of Mary rose out of the house of David, a noble house of Jewry.

  8. Tammy

I am grateful you have been blessed by our EChurch posts. Wade is such an encouraging pastor, and I am thankful that he and his church allow us to post his sermons each week. I hope you will continue to participate.

  9. Deb, I definitely plan on continuing with eChurch. Very safe and a great message for me…especially right now with all the recovery work I’m doing(abuse junk).
I need to hear we/women are special and not supposed to be oppressed or controlled.

  10. “There is nothing the Devil hates more than women & Jews. The seed of the woman was promised from the beginning to destroy the works of the Devil. And the seed (least damaged ovum) of Mary rose out of the house of David, a noble house of Jewry”

This is so true, And this hatred is historically documented.

  11. Another wonderful sermon Wade. God is wonderful, isn’t he!! BTW, my sister is in the hospital. Your prayers will be welcomed.

  12. So did I hear a bit in the discussion above that those who diss women and Jews are doing the work of the devil? CBMW, are you listening?
