Welcome to Our Gathering of EChurch@Wartburg

Here is our order of worship

Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
The power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen.

A Prayer of Augustine, 354-430 from
The Complete Book of Christian Prayer, p.4

"Look upon us, O Lord,
and let all the darkness of our souls vanish
before the beams of your  brightness.
Fill us with holy love,
and open to us  the treasures of your wisdom.
All our desire is known to you,
therefore perfect what you have begin,
and what your Spirit has awakened us to ask in prayer.
We seek your face,
turn your face unto us and show us your glory.
Then shall our longings be satisfied,
and our peace shall be perfect.

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:8-9 (NASB Bible Gateway)

By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going.  By faith he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise;

A prayer of Irenaeus-Early church father @200 A.D.  link

“Give growing maturity to beginners, O Father; give intelligence to the little ones;
give aid to those who are running their course.
Give sorrow to the negligent; give fervor of spirit to the lukewarm.
Give to the mature a good end; for the sake of Christ Jesus our Lord.
Amen.”

Discussion Questions

(1)  Why is it important to remember God is merciful during dark times
even when we cannot feel His mercies?

(2)  What are the various ways God speaks to you as as you live your
life of faith?

(3)  Why is it important more important to say "I will" than it is "I
can" when God calls you?

A Benediction
And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:7

Thank you for spending your precious time worshipping the Lord.

  1. Thank you all so much for an excellent service today.

I loved the music and the message from Wade touched my heart greatly.

  2. Thanks again for a most inspirational service. Interesting comparison, Pastor Wade, of Abraham’s journey to the promised land to our journey through life as well as the hindrances we’re likely to encounter along the way.

  3. tem and Victorious,

So glad you are enjoying EChurch! It is such a pleasure to provide it every week. We are grateful to Wade and his church for allowing us to post his sermons.

  4. what a freeing message, Wade. since I felt I would always fail in obeying God, I just wouldn’t try. You made it clear to me now that God just wants me to be willing to obey, that’s all. If I yield to him, he will help me.

What a wonderful revelation for me. Thank you again.
