Welcome to Our Gathering of EChurch@Wartburg

Here is our order of worship

Morning Prayer from The Online Book of Common Prayer
Psalm 95
O come, let us worship and fall down, *
and kneel before the Lord our Maker.
For he is the Lord our God, *
and we are the people of his pasture
and the sheep of his hand.

O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness; *
let the whole earth stand in awe of him.
For he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth, *
and with righteousness to judge the world
and the peoples with his truth.

A Litany from the Online Book of Common Prayer Link
That it may please thee to make wars to cease in all the world;
to give to all nations unity, peace, and concord; and to
bestow freedom upon all peoples,
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.

That it may please thee to show thy pity upon all prisoners
and captives, the homeless and the hungry, and all who are
desolate and oppressed,
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.

That it may please thee to give and preserve to our use the
bountiful fruits of the earth, so that in due time all may enjoy
them,
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.

That it may please thee to inspire us, in our several callings,
to do the work which thou givest us to do with singleness of
heart as thy servants, and for the common good,
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.

That it may please thee to preserve all who are in danger by
reason of their labor or their travel,
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.

That it may please thee to preserve, and provide for, all
women in childbirth, young children and orphans, the
widowed, and all whose homes are broken or torn by strife,
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.

That it may please thee to visit the lonely; to strengthen all
who suffer in mind, body, and spirit; and to comfort with thy
presence those who are failing and infirm,
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:1-3 (NASB Bible Gateway)

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.

Questions for Discussion:

(1)  Do you or have you ever intentionally and consistently recorded daily blessings, both spiritual and material, from God?

(2)  In what way does your perspective about faith change when you see faith as something concrete (substance and evidence) rather than something mystical and mysterious?

(3)  When the dark clouds of Providence seem to hide the rays of God’s goodness, what are some ways for a believer to have “faith increased?” [Answer: Reading biographies of God’s faithfulness to other saints, remembering God’s faithfulness to you in the past (and He never changes), etc…]

The Lord's Prayer (Traditional)
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.
Amen

Benediction from the Online Book of Common Prayer
Psalm 51
Open my lips, O Lord, *
and my mouth shall proclaim your praise.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, *
and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from your presence *
and take not your holy Spirit from me.
Give me the joy of your saving help again *
and sustain me with your bountiful Spirit.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever.
Amen.

Thank you for spending your precious time worshipping the Lord.

  1. monax,

Welcome to TWW! We are so glad you have enjoyed Wade Burleson’s message, He is such an encouragement week after week.

As time allows, you might want to check out our EChurch archives which go back to last February when we began this ministry.

  2. Yacouba, the one whom Wade referenced in this sermon, is an amazing man. His conversion story is so wonderful. Through that one encounter has culminated a ministry that defies explanation. Such a God thing.

  3. I’m especially interested in the sermons on faith as it’s always been a mystery to me. Pastor Wade’s illustration of cake ingredients vs. the cake and wood vs. the finished product of cupboards was very helpful.

Thanks for providing this church service! Such a blessing….

  4. Victorious,

I have always LOVED learning about the heroes/heroines of the faith in Hebrews 11.

    They are inspiring!

  5. Deb,

Why did you delete my entire second comment?

    Here it is, again:

    hi Deb,

you know, i’ve been called gonad before, but never monad

thanks for pointing me to the archives

Wade hit my radar recently over on Julie Anne’s blog

    David

  6. Deb,

thank you for providing this EChurch

you know, when i was a boy i memorized all forty verses of Hebrews Eleven.

i remember spending hours as a boy contemplating on verse one alone—“Now faith is the substance (realization) of things hoped for, the evidence (confidence) of things not seen.”

In reference to the Hope and the End for which we were saved permit me to quote Romans 8:24-30

“For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, then we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first born among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; who He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.”

This is the Word of the God.

  7. just now went through and listened to the music. .

    beautiful selection!

you know, church music can be a triggering thing, causing all those hurt feelings to come back again.
