A Laugh, An Affirmation and a “Been There; Heard That”!

The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving. H. Westermayer

Around the holidays, we sometimes like to show some videos or material that we might not have time for in our more serious moments. Be careful not to miss the final video which I discovered when following a link that our good friend, Eagle, provided. I guarantee that you will not be able to stop listening.

A LAUGH!

Some of you might not realize that we have a link to a site called Lark News. It is a Christian news spoof and every time I visit, I have a good belly laugh. I am warning you: they attack idols with wild abandon. Here are two stories with the links. Dour individuals need to avoid this at all costs.

Grandma not in heaven’ boy reports

"Four-year-old Jeremy Werdt says he went to heaven during emergency spleen surgery, and his testimony of seeing Jesus and deceased relatives thrilled his Christian family and landed him a book contract. Then Jeremy revealed to his family that Wanda Spencer, his maternal grandmother, was not in heaven after all." Exiting pastor saddles church with odd worship leader

"After repeated conflicts with his church board about the direction of Family Life Center, pastor Dave Chandler decided to leave the church. But on his way out he used a little-known clause in the bylaws to single-handedly hire a new worship leader: Bill MacNerny who specializes in “alien folk music” and “tunes for chickens and other intelligent beings.” MacNerny was last employed as a street performer in Key West, Fla., and has made several albums of himself playing the ukelele and making barnyard sounds." An Affirming Song

Our good friend, Eagle, is also responsible for sending me this music video. It is by the group, MikesChair,  and is called Someone Worth Dying For . Remember this, you are deeply loved and you were worth dying for! I kinda like you all as well! 🙂

  1. MATRIARCHS GONE WILD: Islamabad (CNN) — A Pakistani woman is being held on suspicion of killing her husband, cutting him up and trying to cook the pieces, Karachi police said Friday. ( I thought TWW needed a little balance).

  2. Seneca,

Interesting that you believe that story brings balance to TWW…

For those who would like to read about it, here’s the link to the CNN article.

Pakistani woman suspected of killing, cooking husband

Why did this Pakistani wife kill her husband? Here’s her explanation:

“In an interview broadcast late Thursday, she claimed to have killed her husband because he wanted a physical relationship with their daughter — and said she did not regret her actions. “I killed my husband before he dared to touch my daughter,” she told ARY News.”

For those who prefer Fox News, here’s how they reported the story, along with an explanation of why she killed him.

Pakistani woman accused of killing husband and boiling his body

“Police officer Khalid Nadeem Baig said Friday that 42-year-old Zainab Bibi told authorities she killed her husband because he tried to sexually assault her 17-year-old daughter from another marriage.”

  3. And we all know there is equal justice for women in Pakistan. Seneca, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

  4. Strikes back? Seneca, it’s not a contest. I’m grateful you brought that news story to our attention. Thanks.

  5. I laughed to the point of a coughing fit over the odd worship leader. Then I found this in the archives, about a fed-up pastor selling his church on e-bay.

I especially liked the befuddled ladies of the church explaining their kindness to pastor’s wife:
“It was clear she was unable to afford modest clothing, so we charged right in and threw away everything in her closet,” she says. “Then we bought her new ankle-length dresses with long sleeves. She cried tears of joy that day. She kept saying, ‘I can’t believe you’re doing this.’ It was a bonding moment for all of us.”

  6. Oh, what a LARK. I’m hooked. Still laughing — oh, the husband who discovered celibacy as his spiritual gift. And I have to wonder — did Grandma get run over by a reindeer?

  7. I came close to dying from laughing so hard. What if the H.S. informed Driscoll’s wife that she was to practice the gift of celibacy?!?!?!?!

  8. Arce
Driscoll’s new “how to” book is due out in January. One can only wish he had been given the gift of celibacy!
