Remembering Our Soldiers and Those Hurt and Abused by the Church

Today is Memorial Day and I want to remember some folks. First and foremost, I thank those who have served this country well, sacrificing family and comfort to defend freedom. I wish to thank any and all readers who have served in the Armed Services. I know of one reader, our intrepid atheist, Karlton G. Kemerait, who served as USN 1975-1979, 1982-1988, HM/CTI (Best Assignment – U.S.S. Enterprise CVN-65). If you have served, please let us know in the comments and we will add your name to this honored list.

Am an old Veteran living at Camp Lejeune, a disabled Vet, living amongst many other honourable warriors. Thanks for remembering us.

This next video is in honor of all of you. Please accept my profound gratitude.

There is another group of people I would like to remember. These are folks who have faced spiritual battles and have been on the receiving end of pain and rejection at the hands of uncaring and abusive churches and pastors. We have told many stories on this blog and will continue to do so. However, I want to assure all of you that you are never forgotten and are always in our prayers. I would ask our readers to review this list and pray for God's peace that passes all understanding to surround these beloved brothers and sisters. I apologize to those who I did not list. Please feel free to remind me in the comments and I will add them to the list.

-A group of teenage boys who were horribly molested by a pedophile and sidelined by some pastors.

-Two children molested within Sovereign Grace Ministries and their parents who were treated abysmally by an uncaring leadership.

-Children, even now, being molested by pastors within the Southern Baptist Convention due to a group of unconcerned men who refuse to set up a pedophile database to warn the faithful.

-Teenage girls who were molested by Darrell Gilyard and then not believed by Paige Patterson. This ignorance caused other to be molested.

-Tom Rich who was thrown out of his church, FBC Jacksonville, for questioning Mac Brunson's expensive house and salary.

-Doug Pittman who was thrown out of his church after discovering pornography on computers within the church.

-The people who have written to TWW who were hurt by Ed Young Jr's hidden and excessive lifestyle.

-Sheri Klouda who was thrown out of her professorship at SWBTS after being promised by Paige Patterson that her position was safe. She was caring for her sick husband at the time.

-A man who struggled with homosexuality, maintained his celibacy and told me he was "turned over to Satan" by a SGM church because he occasionally had struggles in his thought life.

-A young woman who was urged by pastors to marry a man that they knew secretly struggled with homosexuality. This marriage ended in divorce.

-Pastors who have been degifted by SGM "leadership" because they had a rebellious child while a certain major big dog was not degifted for an alleged similar problem.

-People who have been called "heretics" if they do not believe in Young Earth Creationism.

-The many people who have written their sad stories on the blogs at Sovereign Grace Survivors and Sovereign Grace Refuge.

-Women who have been told they do not have a right to even ask a question in church.

-Quivering daughters

-The women who have been told to stay in abusive relationships by patriarchal pastors (Paige Patterson, et al.).

-Children who were abused, became sick or died at the hands of  parents who were encouraged by pastors to use the methods developed by the Pearls and the Ezzos.

– Those who have claimed physical healing at the urging of  health gospel charlatans and now question their faith because God did not heal them.

-Missionary kids who were abused at missionary boarding schools.

And many, many others who question hyper-authoritarian leadership or struggle with questions of the faith while honestly seeking after God, and feel let down and rejected by self assured, shallow thinking religionists.  Know this, you are welcome here at TWW. And if we can help any any way,  call or write.  Remember "Wherever two or more are gathered in my name, there am I in your midst."  This next video is for you. Listen to the words and may they encourage you.

I Hope You Dance
