This has nothing to do with jesus. It has everything to do with creating a political system in which the leaders recreate God in their own image. They are leading the convention down a secular path while believing that they are defending the faith. The Lord is not blessing their efforts. People are fleeing this nonsense. Eventually they will be just a happy little club that plans committee meetings at nice venues and continue to have little impact on an increasingly secularized culture. Didn't CS Lewis say something along the lines of that hell will be like a bureaucracy with forms being filled out in triplicate? Well, the SBC is rapidly putting that bureaucracy in place.
